Mixed feelings

Nolly

After a Great couple of months in the UK we will be returning home to France next Wednesday:):( with mixed feelings. Our most memorable time was spent in the Brecon Beacons & the Elan Valley where the stunning scenery and the friendliness of the people just makes you want to go back for more. Its certainly top of our list for next year.:) Will be posting pics when we eventually get home. Thanks to Canalsman your database was really helpful, hope that our meager contribution will be of help to someone. This Year has certainly shown us that wilding in the UK (even here in Norfolk) is possible with the right attitude and common sense. Communication with the natives must also play an important part.
Will be looking forward to coming back next year. Thanks.::))
Regards Nolly.

Hi,I'm glad you enjoyed the ' Brecon Beacons' of S.Wales,it can be very beautiful there, especially if you have the right weather,i should know,i grew up and lived approx. 20 miles from there.I have travelled many countries that, unfortunately dont come up to B/B standards, also the Gower penninsula and onto Pembroke and its National park.
Many people dont even know Wales exists, maybe down to lack of tourist information across Europe and the World, the bloody yanks still thinks its a suburb of London/England,ye-all...:)Thank you for taking the time to visit and post on here, something positive about Wales and South at that.
Hereford a good gateway, past Hay on Wye,Talgarth and Brecon, follow the canal to Abergavenny/Newport or swing the other way and head for Builth Wells, and up towards North Wales or another turn and Llandovery,Ammonford,Swansea(Gower) ,Bridgend..or Llandeilo,Carmarthen,St Clears (Pendine),Saundersfoot,Tenby,Freshwater,Pembroke and Dock,Haverfordwest - St DAVID's,the small coast road to Fishgaurd and Cardigan to Newquay,Aberaeron to Aberystwyth,Barmouth,Porthmadog (the prisoner)Pwllheli,Abersoch,Caernarfon or Dolgellau,Bala and Llangollen, the list is endless.......:)

Hey you'll have us returning to France via Wales, & seeing as we're in Norfolk that would be some detoure.:) Given the time we would certainly be tempted, & it would be worth every mile.
But you can be certain we will sing it's praises to all asundry over a glass of wine back home.:)

Pleased that you had a good time Nolly.
Have a safe journey home to the better weather.:) We have just returned from there and it was good and better,:) but not as good (weatherwise) as we have known in the past:( Think it is an all over thing:D

Thanks for that *****, Lets hope the weather settles down to give us a good late summer where ever we all find ourselves.:)

Regards Nolly.

We have just arrived home in France & there is not a cloud in the sky.:)
Could be the start of a nice autumn so best not waste it & start planning our next sortie.:)
Hope the sun is shinning where ever you may be.;):)
Regards Nolly.

glad you liked it. its one of my favourites as well go from breconto talybonton -usk then follow the narrow roads past the resevoirs down to pontsticill and merthyr. in fact lets be honest if uk had weather like southern spain in winter nobody would need to go abroad at all. uk is steeped in history ,culture and there is never a place with out something of beauty even the old mining and industrial towns have a story to tell. shame its so cold in winter . and wet . i can name several on this site that might stay and enjoy the travelling in this country. you can surf ski and allthe rest of the things we go abroad for . i love uk. couldnt live abroad . but do like to visit places when back here and south wales is definately one of them. cheers alan.

They do say that the Sun shines on the righteous, your timing was masterful.;)

Love the way you gave it a week or two to warm up for yourself.:)

Hi Eric
I would like to think that. But even though we had the prayer mat out it's probably more down to the daughter giving us an ear bashing wanting to know when she was next going to see her little girl.:D

We have just come back from st Davids, and can vouch for it being a very beutifull area. In solva we blocked the narrow road in our RV as we met a large euro MH head one, and we both had lots of traffic behind us :):)

Anybody gong that way needs to stop at Solva which has a magical harbour and a lovelly pub that doeas superb ale, and a great plougmans lunch.

Thanks for that Motorvating, will mark it down for our UK trip next year.:) Cant wait, as you say it's a very beautiful area and we found the welsh people very welcoming.:)
But in the meantime we're off to Lac Vouglan in the Jura next week for a few days. A very pretty region of France if anyone is travelling this way.:)
Regards Nolly.
