Hi all,
Well I chose my sat nav specifically so I could load POIs from here and LPG stations etc. received it last week garmin 1340...all fine downloaded the poi loader and uploaded the files to the unit ... they are plainly there in the POI folder whe the unit s attahced to my PC....when it is not they are nowhere to be seen...they do not appear in extras as I expected. I have contacted garmin via their website (it seem impossible to talk to a person) and so far have waited 3 working days for a reply...nothing doing)...just wondered if anyone on here has had and solved this problem...if not the unit will be returned to Amazon and thumbs down to garmin for very poor service ....
Cheers in anticipation of any helpful comments

poi garmin

been fighting to put Caravan Club site poi's into Garmin Nuvi. Had to modify the file by switching columns a & b plus ditching rows with missing co-ordinates. Found plcing poi's in a separate folder and deleting from sat nav first helpful.

Hi Firehorse my grandson loaded poi's onto an sd card for me with no problems which I use in my 465t and my 255 so as not to take up space on unit might be worth a try
good luck

thanks for your responses

ended up phoning garmin im not an inifintely patient person :) and was given instructions to try several things including resetting the unit (finger on bottom right of touch screen and hold whilst unit powers up)...which didnt work so I sent it back i think there are software issues....like the idea of putting them on sd card tho, but dont think the unit i had accepted one, but i may try again with a different unit....if i dont loose the will to live first!

I've got over 5,000 POI's loaded without a problem, sometimes you need to name the columns with a ; first as they are in cvs format, let me know if they don't work on the next unit, as I've now set up two for friends without a hitch.

Take a look at gpsunderground.com as there's loads of info on Garmins - plus updates including maps and speed camera overlays... all FOC!!
