We are pondering which shows to go to and under consideration is the Glasgow one, the NEC both Autumn and Feb I think it is.

Are any better than the others and are there any good bargains to be had normally?

Thanks in advance

B2[/QUOTE. Definitely no bargains but I go to the finale at Lincoln and enjoy it .

NEC is primarily aimed at new vans. Peterborough in spring is a mix of old and new vans for sale.

I have been to both SECC and NEC ones.

As a preference, I would say the NEC one is a much larger show and (IMO) much more interesting.
The SECC one show is still worth going go if you are relatively close to it as you do get to see some cool products. Going by your user name you are in the Borders (as I am - Eastern side) so worth the trip.

I got some good deals on accessories and gadgets at both shows. Never enquired about actual vehicles as not in the market to buy one.

I’ve been to the Glasgow one a few times and it’s ok for a day out. I think that some down South are much bigger. Many have two for one days if you’re in one of the clubs.
I’m going to the Western show in Malvern next month, a bit different with camping and entertainment.

The october one at the NEC, and the national mo home show at Peterborough are good for a wander.

We hope to be selling our business on the 17th of August & spending money on a new motorhome at the Malvern Show on the 18th.:scared:

I worked the NEC in 2015, the good part is everything under one roof so you can compare makes, Also people like Alko, Dometic and Truma are present and it is possible to ask questions normally their senior engineers are present. The bad part is food and drink costs a fortune so take your own.

Within the industry it would be fair to say the NEC is seen as the main event

A lot of the biggest dealers no longer attend many of the shows as they have become social events rather than proper trade shows.
Motorhome shows are a bit like castles or gardens in that when you've seen one you've seen them all

You what?!

Bleedin' philistine!

Been to the SECC the NEC and Warners Motorhome shows. It very much depends on what you are looking for. The SECC show in February is by far the smallest of the shows mentioned. Not all the Scottish dealers go to it. The best deals there, for new vans, are usually with the dealers from Northern England. At the NEC there are dealers from all over the country. I once bought a new caravan from Glossop Caravans. Bad idea. Too far from home and rubbish aftersales. Bought a used motorhome at the Warners Lincoln show from a dealer near Durham. (NE campers) Not so far from home and great aftersales. All the shows have lots of stuff you didn't know you wanted. At least the Warners shows (Peterborough, Malvern, Lincoln to name three) also have entertainment and camping on site which does not break the bank. At the NEC the Caravan club charges mega bucks for camping in the carpark. The C&CC has a THS near the October NEC show.

Good luck Borders wherever you go.

Many thanks to all and really our thoughts are confirmed.

Lincoln is too far out the way for us and as we don't have a van at the moment it will be a hotel situation to attend the NEC. What we really want to do is to see as many makes as possible to assess build qualoity against price as there is a massive variation as we all know.

Thanks again. Oh and cheerful? **** cheer up.

Hotels near the NEC are very pricey when the shows are on, but just go a few miles out and you can get a travelodge or premier inn for around £40 which is not bad. I stayed at one just outside Coventry when I went a few years ago. I'm looking to go to the NEC this October and in two minds whether to take the camper or the car - the extra fuel the van uses there and back could pay for an overnight room!

Malvern Show 16th - great show and a bit of a holiday thrown in. Nice setting not too expensive, good entertainment in evening and plenty of vans to see during the day. We spend last year trying out every van out for size. We decided against upright facing seats in lounge area ie nowhere to lounge, we hated lateral and fixed french beds, hated put up beds, hated pull down beds and the list went on. By the end of the show we had a very good idea of what we wanted so when they came up for sale later in the year it was a mere formality of some basic checks and purchasing. Still time to book Malvern Show, we are with white lion club if you want to join us, can get you a couple of quid off plus there are 3 of us off this group in that club. PM me for a membership no.

We lodged at the Solihull Premier inn working at the NEC from about £30 a night not far from the station or 15 mins to the NEC by car....and a superb Breakfast help yourself type (so I did) A pleasant surprise. Place was clean etc

Are there any codes for money off a day ticket to the Malvern Show?
We won't be staying as it's so close for us.
