I am parked up - in my alter ego Scania mh - in a Town Centre Car park in Grangemouth (Scotland). Have a good look at the pics and then ask questions? Car and HGV = Good. MH = Well - Maybe - but just don't do it after the specified hours!!

I just dont get that, so your allowed to sleep, camp etc in a HGV but not in a MH, pfft, thats pants

Well, erm, basically.... Yep! I will be away in the morning before the Cut-Off time but .... what about a Wilder in a Van who wants a sleep-in ???

hi . cant see a problem looks like i can park all day then sleep at night .
i vountary restrict it to 7,500train in the day .then voluntary up it at night.
cant see a problem.
i could even park in a disabled space(well 2 of them) and show my blue badge.

Got it in One Alan - but - Your Rig would probably qualify as an HGV anyway.

it can be a 7,500kg train . i drop it voluntarily for some drivers . but then it can be a car and caravan . remember the ministry plate shows it as 6.3 ton gvw. i could hide the train. hee hee. fits in 2 spaces like a glove . it looks big on the pics but believe me m,homes come longer and higher . 10mtr long 3mtr high. ther canter cab isntmuch bigger than a vw t25. suprised you havent got one . mot exempt as well.

Can't argue with the logic behind that one Alan but, that said, YOU and I are a seperate breed. However, what about your average MH owner - and Council-Run Car Parks with these sort of biased restrictions ?

i,m not a different breed i have the vwlt50, 2vwt25,s and a bongo in the drive and garden. two beetle chassis waiting triking and one part built in the shed .is that not normal. i have a frames but do struggle to understand why so many tow toads when something like mine does just about every thing.
theres been a few nice trailers on mini artic on ebay . ripe for conversion.
mind i payed 1650 for my trailer and the vw lt 11yrs ago . been a good one for the money .
but yes the motorhomer is penalised . first time to see a sign saying ok for hgv ,s though . cant complain can we. hardly ever get asked to move , tried to make it look lika truck. might repaint the door one day only been 6 yrs with it red . nice plastic coated steel seemed a shame to paint it. gas locker next . another red door . the doors i bought blistered up the aluminium doesnt seem to like the paint . . main body was ok. thats been painted 11yr ago.
so what vw have you .

I really like the logic of if someone knocks on the door in the middle of the night and you answer it you are not asleep so how can they prove you were when they knocked the door. I look forward to having this 'discussion' with an official who knocks on my door, must remember to wake the other half though.:D

A Motorhome over 3500kg is a Private Heavy Goods Vehicle according to my tax disc (PHGV) It is adapted for sleeping.

Has anyone actually read the regulations for this car park? The sign may just be someones interpretation of the regulations. Council have been found to be putting up misleading signs with no legal backing. ie Whitby. Is this another example?

Hi John ... and I parked there, legally, last night, across multiple bays (as per the pics) with total immunity from prosecution. I was ALLOWED to park a 44 foot HGV in an Iceland Car Park in the the Town Centre of Grangemouth ... but could I have done the same in my T25????

hi. the one with the other trucks was down near tan tan in morocco on the fask stage of the paris dakar rally . we didnt win . but it was good to be there . we did do some running back to agadir for spares for some of the uk teams. shame its finished now. moved to south america.
no parking restrictions out in the desert . but the other people were very noisy . cars m,bikes ,trucks driving like crazy.
the trucks were faster than the cars . amazing to watch.

hi, well i made it putting up pics. needless to say we didnt compete . we did run back o agadir to pick up a geasr box and a few boxes for another one of the teams . a friend acts as back up for one team and we got involved in helping. one of the john bowler landrover truck team was ill we had a chance to go the rest of the way in their race truck . but couldnt leave mine in the desert and my mate was flying home the next week. chance of a lifetime and we had to miss it. that year one of the female m,cyclists died competing . its a real hard drive . we actuaslly drove down the sections to fask. but it took us ten days .they take 2 days .
you can drive the oputfit on a c1+e licence . or with a bit of work lower the gvw of the truck to 3,500kg and move the wheels forward on the trailer could be driven on a b+e licence. still have the vw , but now use the mitsubishi canter . 7 seater double cab yet only a little bigger than a vw t2. hope you can understand the size . the trailer is 12ft on the bottom with 8ft on the step. altogether 33ft. smaller than most 12ft caravans and cars . height 3mtr. hope you like it i do had it along time now .beats m,home and aframes . ideal for free camping . hardly ever get asked to move abroad they just treat it as a truck. cheers alan.
