Hi
I have had Metatrak installed now for many years but I am really wondering whether it is worth it at nearly £80 per year.
I have had many false alarms and 3 break ins despite having Strikeback in addition to Metatrak installed.
Maybe there are better systems that are more reliable today.
Any comments appreciated.

I have had the phantom system installed in my van for almost two years now and it’s excellent. I have set it off myself a few times and within seconds they’re on the phone. The system incorporates an alarm, tracker, and an immobiliser card. Even with the keys you cannot start the engine unless the immobiliser card is on your person, or if having work done you have switched it off. It’s all controlled by the phantom app. I can even check to see if I have locked my van online, and if I have forgot to do so, I can lock and unlock it online. It also gives the starter battery voltage.
It was not cheap, but I had to do this for insurance purposes.
I paid £399 for life time monitoring, so now I have no running costs.
I think the system was £1099.

What was generating the false alarms - Metatrak or Strikeback? On the assumption that it was Strikeback, you should be able to determine the area involved. I used to get false alarms relating to internal movement and was able to tie it down to flying insects, something that Van Bitz initially indicated would not cause an alarm but eventually agreed could do so if getting close to the detector. Solution is to minimise risk of ingress by use of flyscreens. Also had some door/bike loop alarms, generally due to damage to bike loop due to the way that Van Bitz had installed it.

I've been happy with Phantom. On the odd occasions I have set it off they are ringing within seconds.

I think it was the Metatrak.
My Metatrak is an upgrade to the original Van Bitz Non-Starter, installed some months ago by Van Bitz because I was concerned that 2G is being phased out in France, and it has worked flawlessly so far.
