This is a favourite place of mine to visit. But no more unfortunately...

It was never a motorhome friendly place. Somewhat at odds with the board at the entrance of the town proclaiming 'The Pearl of Mediterranean welcomes you...' But not in a motorhome.

However in the off season the authorities turned a blind eye. Until recently. I have visited in the past few days and discovered blue dashes painted on the road adjacent to the kerb throughout the town. No explanation as to their purpose until an English speaking local kindly put me straight. In essence, and confirmed on a website, all parking is now 'payant' through an app and it's unclear if motorhomes owned by visitors are permitted to park. Residents it seems have to pay as well.

The total absence of ANY motorhomes in the town on two days when I drove though and looked for parking appears to indicate that motorhomes are now prohibited. I saw a number of parking enforcement officers on patrol and ticketing cars actively.

No future visits for me sadly.

What a shame.

We never got as far as Menton. Monaco was enough and that was on the Scooter. There are some nice places on the Cote D'Azur but for me they are west of Frejuz and St Tropez area as far as Cassis.

If towns, cities & villages send a clear message that motorhomes are not really wanted, then that's fine. They have a choice, but so do we, as paying [direct or indirect, the latter via financial support for local businesses] customers - we can simply take our purchasing power elsewhere and leave the local hotels, air bnb and similar businesses to their own devices

Having driven but mainly "ridden" the Cote D'Azur many times I can see why they don't want a parade of motorhomes, especially west of St Tropez. Its carnage. Or at least it can be. Some cracking places and lovely spots if you know where to go but my advice would be if you don't have secondary transport, go to a site slightly off season and use public transport.
