Hi I had a medical for my larger motorhome last year as I am over 70 but just received a letter from DVLA saying it runs out next year, but it says on my licence valid until 2027 can anyone advise please?

To clarify. It’s 3.5tonne. If only to satisfy your own peace of mind, make another medical report to the DVLA.
As long as you don’t have any heart or vision problems, it’s unlikely you would have an issue.

Having had a bypass and a pacemaker, I kept my LGV license until retirement at 74. When I no longer needed it.
I did have to take a hospital heart function test every three years, but that was only because of the pacemaker.

I have a stent and they insist on me doing the heart function stress test at 3 years and was only given 2 years on my last licence renewal.

When I had my heart attack and a stent fitted I was allowed to drive cars and motorcycles after 1 week but it was several months before the DVLA cleared me to continue to use the C1 part of my licence, following a stress test. I guess they can ask for medical tests whenever they like if you have health issues.

Over 70 the license has to be renewed every three years, so I would get in touch(if possible) with the dvla and ask them

It is normally every 3 years but not always. Sometimes they will only renew for 1 or 2 years. If you have a change of health between renewals some conditions have to be notified to the DVLA and they may impose new restrictions. After age 70 the health requirements for C1 fall into the Group 2 category which has more limitations and rules than the Group 1 applied to cars and motorcycles.
