Meandering jet lagged post

My MH failed it's MOT on a faulty tyre, would have interesting had I been stopped by the police.
Also, I drove back from the garage without tax which is permitted according to DVLA but again, what would the police have made of it had I been stopped?
Reason for no tax: I didn't want to give away nearly a month's worth of tax!
Another case of rip off Britain or what? 😡

On the up side, you only need to buy a tyre or two then you’ll get an mot.

I specifically checked when I had to travel 150 miles to an MOT test a few years back. There is no 'reasonable' in the law. The police do not define the law of the land, and nor do you.

Police and reasonable don't mix very well these days [if ever]. The amount of YouTube vids showing the police making up laws on the spot only to have some auditor [who knows a damn sight more about the law] bring them down a peg or two is almost laughable, if it wasn't so corrupt.

Generally, the 'auditors' know the law but not which bits of the law apply. They are often wrong.
The police have to cover a far wider range of legal subjects.

My van is at the garage having work done for its MOT. It is on SORN at present. I'll probably bring it home at the end of next week.
I was wondering whether to leave it on SORN for the rest of the month or to tax it.
I expect I'll splurge the £15 extra for anything more than a couple of days, even though I won't have the time to go anywhere this month.

Good luck with the MOT.

For me it wasn't about the loss of a few quid taxing a vehicle mid month, it is about the blatant robbery of it. For example, if you tax your vehicle on the 31st July you have lost the whole of that month.
If you buy a second vehicle the outgoing owner pays up to the end of the month, so it's double-taxed. Where is the fairness in that?

Rip of Britain at it's best.
