Be very careful if you`re thinking of using Mastercraft Upholstery, Blackpool.

Apparently this is perfectly acceptable workmanship from a professional upholstery company.

A pissed up monkey high on cocaine could have done a better job !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

They used the original covers, but took out the sprung interior and put memory foam inserts in and the zip.

Morning Graham...I didn't spot it at first, but Eileen did...zips in crooked with un-even margins...not good.
Eileen remembers the upholstery in your van as being 'lovely'...you and your wife must be very disappointed.
What about the memory foam...is that an improvement?

regards
Allen

Hi Allen, Elieen has a good eye  anyone that has done sewing whether it be professional or just at home would see it straight away :scared:

The cushions where always kept covered hence the good condition she remembers and it was just the sprung interiors that were past their sell by date.

The new memory foam inserts are brilliant and very comfortable but the whole job has been spoilt ( IMHO ) by poor, substandard and truly awful workmanship.

The zips are at the back and will never been seen but given we paid over £400 for 2 cushions to be renewed they should have been perfect.

Maybe it`s me and i`m expecting to much given what this bloody country is turning into and this crappy workmanship is the norm these days.

P.S.

I hope you are both well and i always wave when passing and driving between ASDA and Tesco

I would be please if I had done it myself, but I am not very good with a sewing machine.

I expect the problem was trying to put the zips into the old all ready made covers, much easier putting the zips in if the covers were not already assembled.

My old mum would have made a better job, but she loved sewing and knitting.

I’d not be happy either. If it was my own workmanship, i’d be unstitching and re-setting. And I’m no perfectionist!
What did they say when you challenged this?

We are talking professional people using professional machinery and supposedly doing a professional job for which they got paid a decent amount.

Look at photos 3 and 4, they couldn`t even cut a straight line, maybe they used pissed / drugged up scissors as well.

I can remember my mum taking apart a padded pleated bunk bed in a touring caravan, removed the wadding and used the original covering material.

Must have been 20 pieces of fabric, sewed it all together and used a new foam to make a plain cushion, every thing matched, looked like it was made that way from new but she did enjoy sewing and took it on as a challenge.

Workmanship isn’t what it used to be. We bought a bed from bensons for beds recently and had it replaced 3 times because of frayed material poor stitching and generally shoddy workmanship. We are now being refunded our money after going to the ombudsman. We were told that’s as good as it gets. I would understand if it was a cheap bed but it wasn’t. Seems pissed monkeys high on coke are everywhere these days. Hope you at least get your hard earned back.

Wooie I’m sorry to say but if I was still a supervisor and seen that it would definitely not have been passed that is shocking and more so because it was supposed to be done by “professionals” and I use the term loosely, whoever passed it must have really bad eyesight!

I would have made an excuse to come back later with money and not returned, then bought or got new ones made.

To be fair (haven't seen this thread before) and - please correct me if I'm wrong - but replacing zips in already existing covers can be *slightly* tricky.

A lot would depend on how much fabric they had to play with for alignment of new zips after they'd unpicked and removed old zips?

Still looks very sloppy though!

Just giving an explanation as to why they might not have been able to achieve a perfect finish (zips), but they should have explained that to you if that was the case. They could always have inserted an extra piece of matching or similar coloured fabric to make a properly neat job on the zips.

All down to time, money and profit I guess. For £400 I could have made you a whole new set of covers! Labour only mind!! :ROFLMAO::cool:

What is worse to me is the the original covers!
I would have complained when they were brand new as the pattern is not aligned correctly.
Obviously done to save on amount of fabric used, as matching patterns properly can be very wasteful of material.

Also it wouldn't necessarily be a big deal as the zips go at the back where they're never seen - as you pointed out (y)

Wooie thanks for post. I always think recommendations is good feedback. And your feedback alarm bells would be ringing. And good reason to stay away from the company. If it was a cheap job I could maybe live with it. But it wasn't. Hope Annie reads this.
