Maritime museum

We are off to London on Monday staying at Abbey Wood. We are going to visit the Maritime Museum, something I've wanted to do for years, but never got around to, until now, and guess what, the Cutty Sark is closed to visitors, as they are making it more accessible for disabled visitors, and some restoration I believe. Anyone stayed at AW and has any tips on anything else to do in the area? Is there public transport to the barrage? Wish me luck with the 25.:( :( :(

Hi

Hi there, from the cutty sark position there is a tunnel that you can use to get to the isle of dogs and then you can get the monorail into london, or there is the water ferrie to the tower from the same place, or nearby. Also on the sunday there are a number of antique markets in the area, also the Royal artillery mussee is nearby,
mind you it took me 1/2 a day to walk around the navy mussee, also there is the queens house (queen ann) and I don,t know if the navy hospital will be open, it is from time to time.
have 1/2 a day in the mussee and then take in a show in london, or visit HMS Belfast or tower.
It was a long time ago, but there is much more to see from the outside of the cutty sark, ie the rigging and the racing lines then the inside which was a bit of a let down.

Thanks

Hi Terry,
Thanks for your reply. We are certainly thinking of going up into the city at some stage. According to the Cutty Sark's website, all the masts and rigging have been taken down, and the whole ship is covered over, so I think we shall probably give her a miss. A good excuse to visit again.:( :( :(

Don't forget the Royal Observatory

At the top of the hill behind the maritime museum, in Greenwich Park. Great views over London.
