maplins solar deal

Hi having a look for solar panels and found this i dont know much about them is this a good deal? i just need to keep my battery topped up when the van is not in use and just enough for the lights when it is .

Bought this a couple of months ago and am pleased with it. Sits on my window plugged into the 12v socket to keep the battery topped up and connect it to the leisure battery when away. Also use it to charge up laptop, phone e.t.c. 12V Solar Powered Briefcase Style Charger - 13W Solar Briefcase

This Maplin one uses amorphous cells. Monocrystalline are better. Better deals on ebay. I bought my 80 watt a year ago for £160 inc. charge controller.

How about this one for £150

80 watts Solar Panel (80w) with 5m cable | eBay

Basic 10 amp charge controllers are about £13 on ebay.

hi. if you really need a fold up then its not too bad. it is decieving though . 60wt would never get anywhere near 10amp. be lucky on a really bright day if it even produced 4amp. i would go for the 80wt and a simple reg. yes its nice if you can slope them towards the sun and keep turning them to face it through out the day . but on the roof works for me. avoid overhanging shade or buildings creating shade. i work on for every 80wt panel you need 100amps of battery to store the power.solar is getting cheaper all the time. soon it will be the norm on most campers .
