Does any one know of a good Campsite EEEKKK close to Manchester, we want to visit the city for a day or two and want somewhere convenient for the city , nothing fancy , a field will do as long as it is safe to leave the van all day Please?
 
If you are a member of the CC then consider Burrs country park in bury tram into city centre, canoeing on the Irwell and a steam railway runs at the side..Pub close by too. I used to stop there when my daughter was at uni in Salford

To be fair pretty much anything within 20 odd miles of Saddleworth Moor can be considered smoke affected.... Depending on wind conditions,
Things are looking somewhat more under control at the moment thankfully.

Lovely village, 2 pubs. 1 mile walk to station on the Crewe Manchester line.
The Red Lion pub, near the station, is VERY motorhome friendly. Good bitter, just supping some. He'll be happy if you do, too.
