Spent most of my teenage just down the road from there. Makes it a bit scary.

Somebody better buy him a torch before he gets another van though:)
 
no it's a red 19kg propane bottle thats been singed :scared:

What make of camper/van was it?
Was the bottle fixed there or was it placed there after the bang?

The explosion is believed to have been caused when a leaking gas cylinder inside the van was accidentally ignited after the owner parked up for the night.

A spokesman for Doncaster police said the man had been asleep in the van and he woke after it had got dark.

It is thought he flicked a lighter so he could see what he was doing and the spark caused the cooking gas canister in the van to explode.

Sounds like a little butane canister used on camping stoves
 
So much for gas dropout vents (assuming the leak was from the bottle locker) Perhaps he just left the cooker on unlit. Ironic really as far as I can tell the gas bottles are the only things that look ok.

Maybe a raw gas detector could have saved him & his van, we have one in ours!
Wish him a speedy recovery.

In the village where a lived a few Years ago a bloke was using a canister type blowlamp to do some pluming in his extension when it blew up in his hand. It launched him through an open doorway but the damage to the extension was on par with that van.
