Hi...We have a T reg bessicarr E645 with an aes fridge....we put the mains lead in to get the fridge cold ready to go away but it kept going to find gas...so checked the leads were ok...everything else was on so hubby decided to go to the MCB and try the test button....then all the lights went out alongside everything else so we now have no mains at all...12v works...gas works...checked all fuses we cud find and all ok...even tried to get to the fuse behind the aes board but couldnt find it..are there any other fuses i should know about before i call for a pro??...cant think of anything else apart from where the lead plugs in...have tried two leads...Thanks

If you pressed the test button, then you have cut off the 240 volt supply.

Maybe it is not resetting or you are not doing it properly. It could be a faulty MCB, especially if it is an old one. Put a test meter on it. If there is 240 AC volts going in and nothing coming out then it is the MCB.

I am assuming that you have the gas bottle turned off when pre cooling the fridge at home. If you have and it still hunts for gas then you may have a problem with the fridge.

Also, if you are parked on a slope, the fridge may not work at all. I have that problem on my drive. If that is the case, let me know and I will post how I get round it.

Many thanks for your reply....

Yes he did check the gas just in case he had forgotten to turn it off as we always make sure its off normally...he checked the electric going into the MCB box and the electric went as far as the fuse box but just under the box we drew a blank but we thought it was perhaps where it had cut us off...we checked all the fuses in the wardrobe and they were ok...tried to get to the fuse behind the aes board and managed to get the front off but couldnt find a way in which was frustrating so he left it not wanting to cause any further problems...12v works the fridge...and gas too...and luckily for us we are not on a slope....Jackie

I had trip that was funny to use. When it was tripped it would not re-set until the switch had been pressed firmly into the off position first. Worth a try.

My van has a double trip one supplies the fridge only, the other supplies everything else.

Hi Jackie,

The AES fridge can be set to work on Mains Electricity simply by putting the control switch in the correct position. If it then refuses to work it will be because the mains current is not going to the fridge.

Having turned of the mains by pressing the test button on the mains box you have to reset it. I belive that it was the RCD (residual current device)which you triped and that only goes out when there is an earth leakage. There is also one or more MCB's (miniature circuit breakers)which act as fuses. These are often difficult to see if they are in the on position. So I suggest that you check that both the RCD and all MCB's are in on position. If either of the circuit breakers continue to trip out it will be because there is a fault in that circuit.
