Maiden voyage in "Ruby".

Hello again, just thought i would pop on and let you all know about our "maiden voyage"last weekend in Ruby.As some of you know Ruby is our 1st motorhome and we were unsure where to go for her first outing, we could only go for an overnight stay but nevertheless it turned out to be fab!We ended up at Hook House Farm in Robin Hoods Bay Whitby.Jill the owner is so lovely, and incredibley helpful. It had rained all day more or less and the wind was shocking but not to be outdone we kept going.Old Ruby got up the hills no problem, Blue Bank was the one i was most worried about but she was quite happy. When we arrived Jill showed us to our pitch and in seconds had us chocked up level, hooked up to the electric and sorted with a beautiful view of the cliffs and sea.We were in heaven. After taking the trusty co pilot(molly mole the dog)for a wee and a wander, the compulsary brew went on and peace ensued. Then the rain and wind stopped as if by magic, and a calmness took over just as i was putting the pan on for pasta carbonara, haha,i stood on the doorway with my glass of wine in hand, watching the lambs playing in the field and looking at the ocean and for the first time in a long time felt total relaxation.Amazing how such a simple thing makes a soul feel so happy.Molly Mole was such a good girl aswell,to say she had also not done this before but she took to it like a duck to water, and was soon snoring on the rug as if she was at home. The next day we strolled down the massive hill to robin hoods bay, bought some rock, had a hot chocolate and wandered on the beach,it took literally all day as i had to take it steady with me arthritic bloody knees nevertheless i made it slowly and enjoyed every second, Moll is great at pullin me up hills haha! All in all we had a lovely overnight stay the only downside was it wasnt long enough, and we are itching to go again this weekend, dont know where we will end up but wherever it is i know ime gonna be comfortable thanks to Ruby.:)xx

A cracking story, and I totally understand the relaxation factor you refer too.

A lovely part of the world too.

Channa

It was lovely Channa,i really cant remember the last time I felt so chilled out without a care in the world, i even forgot about my knee pain for a short while. Its a strange thing tho, i am not a very good passenger in any vehicle ime a better driver as ime in control, but when we get in Ruby its like something comes over me and i just feel so laid back.Even Moll just settled down straight away and loves it.Mick keeps joking and saying ime probably getting poisoned by the exhaust fumes ect haha, but even he didnt take any rocking to get off to sleep that night.I think this is probably the best thing we have ever bought now the work has been done on her.Lets hope she lives on for another 20 years!!:)xx

Glad you enjoyed your first trip it sounds like it went really well. We have had our MH a year now and I know exactly how you feel. It was lovely to read your story as you clearly really enjoyed the first trip. Im really pleased for you. It is so relaxing and your right even the journey is more enjoyable and chilled out than being in a car. Mind you its not always the case. You were lucky with your first trip. Ours, last may saw us on an overcrowded campsite getting stressed out as I couldnt get anything to work! We soon overcame this though. Oh and once we were heading to the Isle of Arran and were really late for the ferry so I had to drive the van flat out all the way from Penrith to Ardrossan in Ayrshire. Wheres your next trip and more importantly when are you going to do your first night wilding!

cheers
Barry

Hi Katrina,
that's what Motorhoming is all about, do what you want, when you want and get away from the hustle and bustle. Sounds like you all had a great first outing, may you have many, many more, and do try some wilding when you get used to it all, apart from anything else it's cheaper!

Happy Camping:)

Was your chocolate from the choclate fountain.
I had a marshmellow kebab dipped in the choclate fountain when I was there.
It was worth the trudg up the hill
My mouth is beginning to water thinking about the chocolate :D:D
Glad you enjoyed the first of many outings
