I am a member on another forum thier camper failed mot today on position of side indicators because they are set on body of vechile {a bambi} see drawing just thought i point it out as there may be someonw on here with similar type of camper where the main body protudes beyond the cab dont understand why it failed on this unless it something new but there are many camper like this i should imagine bambi.JPG ok this is only what i have read they could be wrong but thought someone on here might be wiser than me and understand why they have failed it

all bambis are built the same unless it demountable which some where not and as far as i know from the forum there has never been this query mentioned at all and like this forum they tend to post mot due and if it fail or passes

I now imagine everyone stealing their kids protractors and rushing out to their MH like that comment but do kids these day use protractors or compasses health and safety dangerous sharp corners and can be flex and used as missile {not that iwould know anything about that }

Only a Idea

Sorry. I do not know the ruling on this but the MOT station should have a book of words ask them to show you the ruling. When that rule was introduced. and what is the rule on vehicles having already been passed as fit to use with no modifacations. ( You get the idea ) Or why not just take it to the garage that past it last year.

these days it would flag up at the other garage as having failed . that could alert the old mot tester to something he as overlooked . far easier to just wire in a couple of other lights . even remove them after the test. then not use that one again. ha ha .

do they mean that if there is any night time driving that the indicators
may reflect through the mirror stopping the driver having a clear view behind him

Back in the day I would have gone quietly to another mot station and tried my luck again. Does the computerising of all things mean that this is no longer an option?
If it were my van I would want to have my indicators as visible as possible, so adding a couple in a better place would be a priority anyway, but I did have a car that had a crack in the wing mirror that by chance added a better view of the blind spot. It was a sad day when the garage replaced the glass to make it road legal.

morning campers,

take your camper to the station you went to last year, they will not know it has failed at the other one unless you tell them, yes it is on the computer system but they wont know that unless you want to tell them so and they would need the number from your reg document so dont take it with you, all the details they need to test it are on the camper.

the station are not allowed to have a "book" of rules now as it is all on the vosa computer that they use only for mot's, you can read the same thing online on the gov.org site, if you dont agree with anything the garage tells you then just print out the bit you need and take it with you to show them, be polite and all will be well.

these days vosa change the criteria at will and its hard for the customer to know what has changed since the last time they had an mot

:cool:
