Lytham versus cleveleys

I needed to collect something off eBay that was 'halfway to blackpool ' and decided to have a nosey at both locations whilst on the road. First to lytham 'aire' which was surprisingly empty in the midst of the golf open fever . Two mh's ,it looked fine, felt a little claustrophobic ,but surrounded by ideal buildings of use to me!! I will be returning and using this facility, ' three cheers to the local council' . Onwards and upwards to cleveleys unofficial aire on princess 'promenade' . I immediately noted the high wall and concrete rumble strip sounding road ,so decided to park and the opposite end just on the Tarmac and alongside a smaller wall ( great move! No noise, good tv reception, and a feeling of openness) . The other five mh's parked at the end near to the toilets. I bought a takeaway nearby ( red chilli Indian) which was fantastic remembered to mention that I was staying in a mh on the front and allways buy things local as a thank you . Explained that all mh'ers do( don't know if that's true mmm! Could be a little White lie) and stuck to my promise of ringing him to comment on the food ,as it's only been open two weeks. I think coming from the Manchester area and ordering vindaloo made a food critic in his eyes. The night was peaceful the weather was fine and the morning glorious( honest!). What really made my short stay was the efficient and friendly council litter picker followed by two men in the litter bin pickup who actually slowed down to wave finally two local friendly walkers. I was happy, my dog was Happy . No I didn't take my takeaway litter home ,but I did take to a bin in the nearby park. There are no houses on this parking strip, it's a ideal 'aire with a 24hr max??? Why do we have to clash with councillors why can't we compromise ?

I take you mean Anchorsholme prom?
Unfortunately you are one of the few. The motorhomers who park alongside the road for day / weeks at a time give us all a bad name, it used to be unlimited free parking along that stretch, but the council are going to limit parking to 4 hours I believe, because of these people.

Some people, like yourself, stop for a night and move on. Others spoil it for everyone.

Anchorsholme prom

Hi Frank , I assume this is where I was!! The trouble is that it lends itself to do just that, what with the pedestrian frontage and even the opportunity to fish if that's your thing! I've always feel a bit daft getting my deckchair out when your in what is still a residential type area, but I can see why others would . Still a time limit would curtail that ' we're here for the season ' type/look ! I must admit I'm already thinking of returning soon. Why do I only rarely think like that about c+c sites! I only get that buzz at deserted beach sites ( Middleton sands!) .however, There's a nice safe feeling sometimes when your paying(as long as it's cheap !) shell island has got to be my all-time favourite.
