If and or when you come up here be VERY, VERY, VERY, careful where you park if you go into Blackpool just down the road from Lytham St. Annes

Check the signage with a microscope as there are no motorhomes what so ever allowed to park on the prom or the streets off it even with a blue badge.

Forgot to add this so i`m doing this in a separate post then the members that have read the other one will read this as well.

The Princes Way that is mentioned in the second paragraph is the parking area near Cleveleys that runs along the foreshore parallel with the main road.

It used to be free and unrestricted, had masses and masses of motorhomes, motorcaravans, campers, stealth or what ever you want to call them park there.

Some were there for weeks on end and the real nobheads even got their awning, tables and chairs out due to the wide footpath ( wind permitting ).

It`s them lot who buggered it up for everyone else and you can`t even stop for a brew or a break now in your motorhome.

Once again it`s the few that have spoilt it for the majority but hey ho, they just moved on to somewhere else and will bugger that up as well

If ever we went over that way i would always drop down onto Princes Way to have a look and was taken aback several times with the amount parked up there.

That’s exactly right. Vans stayed for weeks on end with all their gear scattered around often with generators running within earshot of the nearest houses. It was inevitable that it would be ended, which is a great shame as a great location for an odd night within the van, lovely views. At least some provision is made by Blackpool for motorhomes, but for similar reasons there is no on street parking for them.

I know several people from around the country that used to come up here for a couple of days, very often on their way to the Lake District.

They would use Princes Way for their overnight stop, leave their motorhome there and jump on either the bus or a tram to visit Blackpool and or Fleetwood.

For those that were physically able to walk the main shopping area in Cleveleys, Victoria Road West and East isn`t that far away and packed with shops.

You mention Blackpool which has huge parking areas at the end of Yeadon Way near the football ground that could so easily have an aire type set up on it.

The only times they ever came anywhere near capacity was when Blackpool FC had home games which wasn`t that often.

The infrastructure is already there, power, water, sewage, etc. etc. and it would be very very easy to have a bus service run from there to encourage motorhomers to leave their vehicle where it is and jump on the bus to travel around.

They say that it would have an impact on the Hotel / B&B businesses but it wouldn`t because the majority of motorhomers would not use them and go elsewhere.

I have actually had conservations with some people and tried to explain that the locals businesses would get more footfall / customers enabling them to carry on trading which in turn would enable them to continue paying their rents / business rates etc. etc. which in turn puts more money into the council coffers but that just fell on deaf ears.

The simple fact is too many councillers have too many fingers in local Hotels, B&B`s and horrnedously expensive campsites so, it`ll never happen :(

The above maybe true, but other businesses will benefit from motorhomes , we are reputed to be a bunch of freeloaders and to some extent is true .I used to to use a beach car car park with cafe ,on many occasions i was told by motormers that if left at 8.30 I would not have to pay . Now gone .the owners lived in veiw of the car park and could see all ,

If the Blackpool councillers would only talk and listen to the Lytham St. Annes councillers they would see that the majority of the businesses there enjoyed more custom / sales / income ( pre-Covid ) to before they started started allowing motorhomes to stay over at the aire type set up they already have.

The main photo in the original post shows what is was like and we have seen it busier than that with just as many also parked for free along South Promenade which is the main road that runs along the coastline in good weather.
