Having found the spot from the invaluable POI set we were enjoying the beach and utterly amazing geology forming the cliffs. The weather was actually pretty good and we puzzled as to why there was no marine activity apart from a creel boat that got to with in some 800m the turned about and went off the same way it had come.

We had ordered a large sacle map of Dumfries and Galloway but of course it failed to arrive by it's due date. On our return home it was there so we got round to it after the fridge unloading and so on.

Luce Bay it said, the map this is. In large red letters. Bombing Range. Uh huh......

There is still a little square bit of land fenced off that is marked MOD. It has a map on a board and details about the range. May have a pic somewhere

Here it is, go there a bit myself lol

Not been used for a clusters bombing range for the past 18 years approx , they have cleaned up the unexploded stuff , you have to go to the Sandhead bay end to appreciate ..
