LPG Gaslow problem

Flipping heck! Just had a bit of a pant wetting moment at the LPG filling station at Filey.

Had trouble getting it connected to our side filler and when I finally did the thing just backfired and sprayed Lpg all over me and the forecourt. The two ladies there were really helpful but I just couldn't get it to work. Now they say it was working ok but it just kept doing the same thing so I've given up.

It happened once before years ago but has been fine hundreds of times since.

There isn't another pump near here so will have to swap to calor but wondered if anyone had had this happen. It does look like a blockage my end but can't be sure until I try somewhere else.

There were clouds of the stuff everywhere and the poor forecourt woman was legging it. :D

Good job I put me fag our eh :D

Any thoughts?

Carroll had a similar problem try a pm

Did you hang around for the next LPG customer to rule out the pump connecter been the fault.

There is or was Lpg in Seamer on the way into Scarbourgh.

I struggled to connect the filler on only the second time of filling to new system, took me a good 3-4 minutes to connect. Not filled since so cannot say if the problem is still there.
Good luck on sorting it.

Charlie may have an opinion on it? Depends on his mood whether you get a straight answer or not.:)

I always wear a pair of rigger type gloves when filling as cold burns are no joke and do it at arms length. Hope you get sorted.

Thanks folks. I didn't want to go to Scarbados as its like Nice at the moment with traffic. We are staying at Flamborough head, been here three weeks so by estimate we will have used about 18 litres out of 21 in the 11lg Gaslow.

I stopped to get a 6kg calor replacement in Filey as I have what I thought was an empty one but it felt the same weight as mine so left it, I can't remember whether it was left full or not and at £25 a pop I though I would wait until the Gaslow runs out to find out. :D

I can just sling one of them on the scooter if need be.

Just for info the two girls at Primrose valley Station say they are closing the LPG pump as its a bit of a nightmare and too much hassle although they reckoned it was working ok earlier. Maybe me nearly blowing the place into Filey bay hasn't helped :D

Cheers for the help

Hard to say whether it is the pump in Filey or your Gaslow filler that is at fault.

The GB/Netherlands "bayonet" connector is a bloody nightmare to connect correctly. The French/Italian "cup" connector is much much easier as is the German screw on connector. The worst of all is the Spanish connector which invariably sprays lpg out onto your hands when you disconnect!

Head towards Scarbados and take the road towards York avoids traffic and brings you out at Country wide ....I assume you used the station off the main road opposite the old Butlins ?

Anyway if you need a winter jacket, in Filey visit Cammish'es at the side of the fire station they are stockists of Keela popular with mountain rescue teams and special forces and they do pretty colours ...they are heavily discounted I haven't found anywhere as cheap and make Berghaus look crap. Fish and Chips at Browns on Union Street and you are sorted !!

Can you guess it was my back garden

On a similar topic my Gas It overfilled at Morrisons Leyland the other week :scared:

I had LPG venting from the Pressure Relief Valve in approx 3 - 4 second bursts :scared: and the Open / Close valve was virtually seized solid :mad2:

Once i vented the excess LPG off down to the weight it should be the valve operation became normal again.

Firstly Gas It blamed the hot weather then when i explained i`d filled up at 07.30am he changed his tune and blamed the Morrisons pump.

Morrisons ( i know the kiosk operator ) said that everyone else ( and it gets used regular ) had filled up without problem so the blame was with the Gas It system.

Thanks. I shall inspect my filler point today for any signs of damage or wear. It had been there for nearly a decade and been heavily used.

I've decided to just wait until we go home in about 12 days time and try and find another station on the way. Trouble is there aren't any that I know of so may have to divert. There is a Haven site at Thornwick bay and they have 6kg Calor, that will have to do.

Thanks again
