Has anyone recent experience of dealing with service dept. At Lowdhams ?. The reason I ask is as follows. I rang today to try book a habitation service before 4 th September which is anniversary of first registration. Hymer is still under warranty and therefore requires annual hab.service and damp check. I preferred this was done in August so we could go on hols beginning of September. I was told their service dept was fully booked until November !!! I debated this on phone regarding implications for warranty. Apparently they found out that Hymer are allowing 2 months grace on this subject. So suddenly they offered dates in mid October !!!! So with no choice I accepted a mid October date. They then said it was company policy to keep vehicle for a WEEK for a habitation service.
I'm astonished at these arrangements. On previous motorhomes hab. Services done same day as booked in (2-3 hours), and date booked max time a month on advanced. Anyone had similar experiences with Lowdhams?

You don’t have to go to these people for your hab service.
So long as you go to an approved workshop Hymer have to honour the warranty.
Quite frankly if this is the case then they are a disgrace.
I had my hab service done last month and it took four hours.
A week for a hab service is ridiculous.
So look for your nearest approved workshop and go to them.
With service like that they don’t deserve your business.

According to my Hymer warranty literature the Habitation service and damp check has to be done by a Hymer dealership

There are plenty of others to choose from

Lowdhams Huddersfield is about ,10 miles away. Next nearest is Travelworld Stafford, 180 mile round trip !

I sympathise, with your problems. My experience, with Lowdhams, Nottinghamshire branch, wasn't recent, but it's interesting, that they haven't improved, judging by what you have posted.
Their after sales, was a joke, when we purchased our van, from them. I made an official complaint, but wasted my time. Although they are part of an approved repair scheme, IMO, they only pay lip service to it.
As a Quality Auditor ( Now retired ), if I followed an audit trail, of their systems, they would have fallen, at the first hurdle, because their complaints procedure was not independent. The person that conducted the complaints procedure, sat at a desk directly next to the service manager. This is NOT fit for purpose.
They might have done you a favour. My advice, don't use them. At the time that I used them, they were incompetent, and bodged repairs.. I could go on at length, but you no doubt get the picture.

You would be better of letting me do it than go to Travelworld, shower of shite that they are.

I had the same issue with Hymer UK when we first got our last Hymer, wanted van for a week for water ingress check and would only do check as part of habitation service, I phoned the original supplying dealer in Germany and got it booked in for the date and time I wanted on my way back from Nurburgring damp check only to comply with warranty took 1 hour and was done while I walked into town and had breakfast on my way again by 9:30 am took it there every year for the time I owned the van even after the warranty expired.

I read recently that planning permission has been given to build homes on the current Lowdhams site. Dont know if they are still open there. No doubt that will mean their servicing department will be busier than normal.

They are still open I went past there about 1/2 hour ago

Ah Lowdhams Huddersfield.

The people who didn't have my new van ready when they said they would. I had a 2 1/2 hour wait, but in fairness they gave me a voucher for a cup of tea (no biscuit, just tea).

The people who PDI ed my new van but failed to notice the rear light couldn't work because the manufacturer had fitted a single filament bulb holder instead of a twin.

The people who couldn't get the fridge to work on the handover, until I showed them how!

The people who remembered to charged me for the tow bar and electrics on my new van, but forgot to fit them. The people who told me, when I pointed out their error, to return (200 mile round trip + 2x100 mile train journeys) in two weeks to them fitted.

The people who fitted a tow bar when I returned the van but forgot the electrics, which required another set of round trips.

The people who had the van for more of the first three months than I did.

The people who have never seen me or the van again .

I know how you feel.
My A class drivers window had an intermittent fault, but it seems permanent now.
Sometimes after opening the window it won't close for hours even days.
When I contacted the dealer they say they don't deal with mechanical issues.
Fiat quite rightly said as its an A class and not one of their doors they were not responsible.
The dealer decided to let me go to a local auto electricians and they would submit a claim to Roller Team.
Well no one would look at it, the minute they found out it was not a fiat window they all said they could not get the parts.

Well I thought it was the door switch, so I removed it from the door and unplugged it from the socket.
Its a six pin version with two switches with the terminals on the rear.
I checked the continuity on both switches and found that one of them was not closing when pushed.
I contacted the dealer asking to contact Roller team for a replacement switch.
I was told it could take 2-4 months.
I looked on Bay and found a replacement for £6.29
I await delivery and hopefully the matter will be resolved
BY ME.

I see a lot of people desperate to have the hab check to keep warranty....

If you're having this much trouble with something you're PAYING for, how do you think you're going to get on if you try and claim something for free from these people in the future? 🤣🤣🤣

With warranty issues and waiting time as they are is there any point in buying a new vehicle ,i bought mine at 3 years old ,with 12 months dealer warranty all claims sorted promptly including a new fridge.now any repairs are done by mobile repairer. Never buy a motorhome from a distant dealer .

To be honest that is not so easy , depending where you live .
I did deal with lowdhams a few years ago . When buying a new van they refused to instal a radio or spare wheel . I started to remove radio and spare from my trade in . Salesman [decent guy , probably not there now] got radio and wheel fitted . Went back for service and repair . Was allowed use of bungalow while waiting . Ferry was booked for that evening . Went to check on van reception hadn't bothered to let me know van had been ready for 2 hours.
Caught ferry , just
Not sure if any of the big dealers are worth a light

I totally agree right now I am looking at a Rapido/Dreamer Van conversion but there are no dealers up here. My nearest dealer is 240 miles away. I also like an Adria with 3 dealers up here. But the Adria is £3,000 dearer and a lower spec. So what do I do pay an extra £3,000 for a lesser van or travel down south to get what I really want. It’s ok if you live in England you are well catered for with dealerships, but not so much up here.

Yes a difficult decision I bought a van 240 miles away and needed warrenty work , I got nowhere on the phone just every excuse why the person I needed was not available , and a promise of a return call that never happened ,, sometimes they take several weeks to complete a repair, my experience was bad ,
And I learnt lesson , enjoy your van whatever you decide ,

Think that happens if you're 240 or 2.4 miles away
Mind you the shorter distance makes it easier to go and rattle their windows
Yes I did say rattle !
