Hi all
I have had my van for just over 6 months now and driving mostly weekends in and out of dagenham thinking the LEZ started at the 406 but just found out with the help of a non payment fine that the LEZ is up to the m25 and I have been caught a few times now in it. My question is I have a fiat ducato 1997 minibus can I retrofit a dpf and what are the pros and cons as I dont want to buy a new van as I dont have the cash for that. I have found one unit where you just replace the dpf cartridge roughly every 250 hours of driving and first set up is £750 what do you guys think (and womens of course)

Its if the LEZ people accept it as being converted ?

I live in the low emission zone. And don't forget the ULEZ is coming out to the A406 soon.

Normally the authorities base the category on O.E.M. (Original Equipment at Manufacture) based on the DVLA details
This is how they got the info to fine you
They and the DVLA are unlikely/not allowed to regrade !

Don't think you have too many options really, if you want to continue to drive in LEZ.
Limited knowledge but retrofit has to be approved by the CVRAS.

I had a DPF retrofitted to a Euro 2 Sprinter when the LEZ first came in. It was a lot more than £750 then, and all the companies had long waiting list.
It didn't need a filter changed every 250 hours, so must have been a different system. Worked ok for the 4 ish years I kept vehicle after retrofit.

I'm looking and found that I can have a LEC low emissions certificate and inspiration of added dpf and if my emissions meet the standards then they issue the lec and I will be able to drive in lez with no problems
