Health and Safety would be disgusted. Just imagine sliding your chair backwards. How did everyone get up there in the first place.

The raised bit is to make for the women in blues hair when she is in the passenger seat.

You mean the woman with the BEE HIVE hairdo .. Climbing that ladder looks dangerous as it is. It's really difficult to climb a ladder that's upright.

What??? I have one leg an for many years climbed verticals ladders in a quarry and on coating plants. The width of the rungs is important and the height between them but that’s all. Admittedly it would need hoops over 2 metres(can’t actually remember the height they had to start). Vertical ladders are easy you can just lean back to rest and catch your breath. We had one conveyor rise 100 Metres to the top of an asphalt plant, was real tiring going up the walkway, the spiral staircase was worse if you had to carry anything. Vertical ladder and hoops preferable. Just need landings to reduce drop

edit: this is from an actual users viewpoint, not a manual.

Try climbing a caving ladder, thin aluminium rungs on 3mm cable! My first couple of attempts I ended upside down, it's a tricky technique at first then it gets easier, bloody knackering though.
