No rain so far on saint swithin's day.. lets hope it's an omen of things to come:dance:

Yeah let's hope, but looking at the Met Office site I wouldn't put my motorhome on it.

The legend of St Swithin came about because it was decided to move his remains. It could not be done because of torrential rain. Since that time it has NEVER happened that there has been 40 days and nights starting on St Swithins day.

Except maybe for this year.:sad::sad:

It did last year.

It did last year.

In best Pantomime tradition .... oh no it didn't. :mad1:

You are probably correct if you include the whole world. It must be continuous globally, just not locally.

We walk the dogs every day that God sends and I would have remembered getting soaked for 40 days in a row. :D

To continue the pantomime, yes it did! Not pouring rain but there was at least some rain each day for 40 days after St. Swithins here last year, I kept note. Can't speak for anywhere else. It isn't going to work the other way this year, unfortunately. It was perfectly dry today but there is rain forecast for tomorrow here.

It has to rain continuously I am afraid. If you don't believe me ask an old wife .... she will know the tale. :lol-049:
