Assuming you dont intend to work, safeguard offer 365 day cover dependant on the age of the van.

You will require a UK addresss though..

If you go outside the eu, it is a case of buying insurance local.

Nfu are worth a look at too....

In the case of the latter, they were happy to accept I was seasonal working. And were happy to cover me despite my mot expiring abroad.

Hope this helps

Www.horizonsunlimited.com is a worldwide travelling site, interesting stuff...and particularly useful if venturring outside the eu...

Just a bit to add to channa's excellent info - Safeguard can offer cover for countries outside the EU but you will need to know in advance the dates of entry and exit for those countries. You might find this preferable to buying insurance at the border in a language you can't understand!

hi my last green card from saga covered all the countries on the green card exept hungary ,iran ,serbia and montenegro. it was for the full year.
depending on your vehicle you will be expected to keep it mot,and taxed here in uk all the time. many countries are now uplifting un taxed uk vehicles . it may be wise to include a visit back to uk to aquire these. as all eu insurance as to cover all countries in the eu at minimum cover it kind of as got more difficult to get border ins as there isnt real border with in the eu now. thats if you wanted to get fully comp while away .if you cant get full 12 months here.

A big yes on the tax as Alan said my boy said they had last week hour and half lecture with the DVLA in Alicante to clear the English reg motors that have not tax of the roads so they are wise now what to look for. should see the photos of what some put in the windscreen down here.

RFL can be done on line, my vehicle was always taxed...saddened me because I wasn't turning a wheel on British soil

Mot is more difficult on an extended trip and it seemed the French at least didn't recognise ours...vice versa the UK seems not to accept a control technique

What is the score in Spain?

there was a time you could get an itv test in spain .it lasted 6 months you couldnt get another as after 6 months you are supposed to register in spain. last i heard they had stopped that idea . did hear that somewhere around malaga there was going to be a station to get an mot .but so far i believe its still rumour. i know last year they were lifting cars,. m,homes off the streets without road tax. if it wasnt motted they were crushing them . now they can computer check its going to be the end of driving all the time with out registration. plus your insurance is now on line checked.
