What with illness, bad weather, bad luck and so on, it’s ages since we’ve been out in the van. I reckon it might be 7 months, but it’s not my fault, m’lord, we have tried, just been b*ggered at every turn.

So, I know the batteries are good, there’s no damp, mechanically we’re fine. Do I need to worry about cleaning out the fresh water system? (drained in case of frost, so no water in it).

Does anyone bother with the posh water cleaning stuff?

Fill up, A few Glugs of Milton, Have a cuppa then drain & repeat, then Flush through,,,

Fill up & Turn the Key !

Oh no you’ve done it now NZ the anti Milton gang will be just flexing their best typing finger,
INCOMING 😮😮

I certainly wouldn't use Milton, just google "Milton in a motorhome". Plenty of products designed for the materials used in motorhome water systems. Boilers are expensive to replace!

Nothing wrong with Milton, I used to use it. I don't bother using anything these days, I don't think it's necessary when the van is in use, even over the Winter period it only needs a swill out by driving and then draining.

I suppose you are referring to the idea that it can harm the stainless steel pipework in the boiler. That is a bit of an old wives tale. If you follow the instructions on mixing strength, it will never happen.

Have used Milton's for the last ten years no problems, do it in spring or if it's left for months, I fill the boiler with fresh water first, set the taps to cold then add fluid to fresh water tank, run the taps a few minutes to load them with the fluid, leave half hour, then run it into waste tank for another half hour, jobs a gudun.

Yep, Have done the Same here for Years,,No problems ‘Yet’ !

I don't use anything in mine water doesn't stand still long enough and I remember Charlie asking me how many times do you flush your pipes out at home with anything other than water 🙄

I use Puriclean.

Day 1
Fill fresh water tank with Puritab solution.
Leave overnight.

Day 2
Close waste tap.
Using each tap and the shower in turn, pump all solution out of fresh water tank. (This means all pipes are treated).
Fill fresh water tank with clean water.
Leave overnight.

Day 3
Empty waste, then close waste tap.
Using each tap and the shower in turn, pump all water out of fresh water tank.
Fill fresh water tank with clean water.
Leave overnight.

Day 4
Drain fresh water and waste tanks.

Ha ha opinions are great 😂

So...

I saw Diamond Dave on something saying to just use lemon juice or vinegar so will be putting the juice from half a lemon in fresh tank on Saturday and running round a few miles before draining it out. Think he said you don’t need to drain but I didn’t really hear how much lemon he said to use 😜

Only used clean water for washing/shower so far so wouldn’t matter if it wasn’t flushed out really
