Long range weather forecasting

Do we have any weather forecasters on here please?

I'm looking to take the van to the western isles late August early September for a shakedown trip after the refurbishment at Timberland.

We plan to leave for our winter trip to Turkey in early December so I would like to do a couple of weeks wild camping before the trip.

What I could do with is a forecast for about 3/4 weeks ahead. So can anybody help please?

I tend to look at this

UK weather forecast - Met Office

On the right hand lower part of the page is a forecast for up to 30 days.

BUT they state that forecasting more than a few days ahead is a art or maybe more like guess work.

You can get the current Hebrides (and a few days onward) weather here http://www.hebwx.co.uk/

Western Isles August/September you might need this forecast also.
The Scottish Midge Forecast
but the islands can be OK especially if there is any wind and there can be on the Outer Hebrides.

Best Wishes

Thanks for the links, what I'm looking for is somebody who can read the Atlantic charts and let us know if any high pressure is on the way.

Forecaster!

I am a forecaster for the Met Office in Scotland who can read charts but it is really too far in advance at the moment to predict anything more than the Met Office website (as IanM states) gives you. I can do 10 days in advance but with limited confidence. I can tell you that from late afternoon tomorrow and Wednesday anywhere on the east coast will be lousy!! Gill

Thanks Gill, I'll be in touch at the end of August if that's OK. I don't want to go if I'm going to be blown away. I spent a very windy night at Shieldaig once never again.

You will get some weather, I can forecast that!!

Take a tip out of the old pilots, put the weather forecast adjacent to the window and label FORECAST, Then label the window ACTUAL.

Sorry to the forecasters, but so often the "forecast" and the "actual" differ wildly (especially in North Wales, micro climates, mountains etc), I know it's a very imprecise art/science and most times the forecast weather happens eventually:confused:

I'm hoping the weather wont be tooooooooooo bad as we could do with a break. We have toured the west coast of Scotland many times over the years.

The first time we went was for 3 weeks, it only rained twice. Once for 11 days and once for 9 days, the rest of the time the weather was brilliant.:lol-053::lol-053:

I've got a bit of seaweed hanging outside my van which tells me the weather. When the weed is wet it is raining and when it is dry it is not raining. Works every time.:mad1::dance::have fun:
