Lone Camping Group

I'd sort of forgotten I joined this group and I must admit to often clicking on the 'New Posts' but have forgotten about the 'New Group Posts'...perhaps we should make an effort to meet occassionally as Lone Campers...I've added a new post to Donkey Too's.

New members welcome....

Yes, not much interest I'm afraid Viktor....there were plenty of people willing to join after Bruce set the group up.....the discussions though, seemed to fizzle out....Maybe they thought we were all "single parsons" (see Bruce's initial discussion).
Perhaps the next meet should offer sex and drugs and rock & roll.....bet we'd get a few married people there too. Any ideas?
The meet at Brandon last September was good fun although there were only six of us there (all male) and I know the Landlord of the Ram Hotel says we could all go back next year.

Solo wilders

The 'lone' camping group sounds as though we're all sad and lonely! Perhaps we could be referred to as the solo wild-campers instead?

I'm always interested in solo meets but preferably not themed around pubs!

I'm also interested in a meet if anyone's heading off anywhere tomorrow for one night.

Bruce named the group "Single wild campers" and I know that has it's own connotations....that we're all there to pair up:rockroll:.....but it doesn't say lonely to me.
I'll be at Park Head near Padstow tomorrow night Karen...a bit far for you, I know!;)

You need a venue and a pub gives you food, drink, water, toilets, etc but there have to be other places that you can fit a few vans which the pratts have not taken over.

Would that be Mr and Mrs Pratt with the huge horsebox, seventeen kids and all those yappy terriers pooing under your step, Richard?

I was thinking more of the pairs of Mr Pratts fiming each other "enjoying" themselves in a carpark not far from here but your version would do:lol-053:

If I had two nights free then Padstow would be good. It's ages since I headed down to Cornwall. I'll toss a coin and head into either mid-Wales or the Cotswolds...

Stonehenge has to be one of the best spots IMO and has no facilities whatsoever apart from woodlands to supply the camp fire. I'm sure there must other equally good areas with space to park several vans, eg remote spot in the Brecon Beacons or somewhere more central. I'll keep my eyes peeled on my travels...

Have a good time wherever you end up.
Did you manage to sell your Kangoo then? What have you got now?

I traded it in for a Berlingo-based Romahome. The 'iKangoo' is likely to emerge next month sporting a professional conversion - all the things I wanted to add but was constrained from doing due to insurance restrictions.

Ah good...you've gone up in the world...I mean at least you can stand up now, even if it's only at the back door. It gets you under those height barriers though eh?

Yep - I've gone posh and no more living on my knees! Full standing height at the back plus the luxury of a fridge and gas hob (so I'm having to quickly learn to cook - I've (almost!) mastered bacon and toast already) and it will duck beneath height barriers while still being sufficiently stealthy to appear to be a car to casual passers-by!

And the monster rabbit, will she (he?) have its own room? Perhaps now you are discovering how to become a chef you may come across one or two unusual recipies...... may I suggest jugged hare?;)

Tylda-bun (or a member of her extended family) is looking forward to travelling in style the rear footwell/kitchen area which is the perfect size to fit her carrier. As for 'other' recipes, I'll.... um.... stick to bacon having faced the challenges of lighting the gas and popping it in the pan....

meet

I'm also interested in a meet if anyone's heading off anywhere . Nothing wrong with a good pub car park/ you can stagger back with hardly any effort. Which is got to be on the plus side,

Lol! no trouble arranging meets I'd imagine, and the group would suddenly become very popular....there's two of these 'offerings'
I couldn't quite manage.....watch the fun as the rest of you decide which two lol!!!

Can I join your group? I'm hoping to start straying further afield in the New Year, and will be travelling solo (except for dog).

I haven't been south of Cheshire for years and years but am willing to travel anywhere - it just depends on work and £££ - not got much of either at the moment but planning to spend quite a bit of time investigating various festivals this summer with a view to having a stall there in future years and I've got various irons in various fires with regards to self-employed work opportunities this year.

I have vaguely been thinking about a trip across to Ireland too... nothing definite yet, just a vague idea.

Sure...no worries...anyone can join by just adding themselves to the group using the main menu choices....welcome whitevanwoman.
