London Emission Zone

Hi everybody,

Has anyone else in the London area read the new rules on low emissions that are due to come in to force next January? As the owner of a 1996 Ford Transit camper, I'm shocked. I checked it out the rules etc and thought no problem, I'll just get a filter. £1,500! I'm not kidding and that's without fitting and the additional £32 per year for the test.

If anyone has any cheaper solutions (apart from leaving London as I can't at the moment due to job commitments) or ways round this, I would greatly appreciate it. Otherwise, bye bye van next December.
 
Our motorhome is over 3.5 tonnes and registered before 1 October 2001 so already fails to meet the LEZ requirements. We don't go to London :)

What are the rules with these LEZ & congestion charges etc.. we are from North Wales & haven't bothered with any of this sort of stuff but noticed signs for emission zone when we were heading to the tunnel. Is there a website that explains clearly what the rules/charges etc are.
 
Thanks for that, couldn't get the page that use reg number but the other page says 'You do not need to take any action.' Not that I plan going anywhere close to London other than on route home.
