Loch Katrine has advertised their new motorhome parking on their Facebook page. The cost is more than was offered to this group via The Laird (i think) I wonder if the price still stands

At that price
Maybe taking advantage of the new regulations in the area ?
The word "profiteering" come to mind !
Clearly they have to recoup installation and running costs but......

It does seem a bit excessive, but as mentioned, they do have to try to re-coup their costs and I suspect they fear a very short season ... I guess if it doesn't get many takers then there is the chance that the price will drop for next year. I wonder if there are concessions for OAP's, students and/or group bookings?

Loch katrine

Hold the boat guys don't go jumping about just now.
It was me who had been to the katrine and had been informed regarding hook ups and new facilities.
On the back of various comments on £25 a night the prices just now are as they were ,which in my opinion are not bad 24hrs parking a sail on a ship £15?
I today have had a conversation with the katrine organation and more so the chap who is providing the first proper Aires here.He is going this alone and is getting no help from the park trust etc, they are spending around 300 k , installing a septic tank at 25 thousand land obviously other charges ,tjay are looking to recoup their outgoing in a time period ,I think this is understandable.
Gordon with whom I spoke with is quite willing nearer the time to talk to us as a group for discount on overnighting and a sail etc ,it might be a package style ticket or just o/n.
If you have been to katrine you may have noticed the restaurant on the right ,He has plans for this also for motorhones to get maybe fish n chips meals etc sit or take back to your van.He beleive me is a motorhoner himself and has great intentions and ideas for here.I must compliment him on his conduct also on the phone to me which was very refreshing.
I have informed him I will post this conversation and will keep in contact if and when required.
So the bottom line is he is trying to set up the first Aires like this.
The costs remain the same until this event opens up.
We will talk then and they are more than willing to offer us a discount package for W members.
Hope this clears up any queries regarding as to what's happening
Regards Gordon

Thanks for the update Gordon ... I can see lots of foreign tourists paying this sort of price, but I cannot see many natives doing so. I for one hope that it works out for them. Aberfoyle was part of my stomping grounds in my younger days and I have spent many a happy hour in The Forth Inn, drinking beer, playing pool, eating and even playing their organ, probably to the horror of the patrons!

Like I've always expected if we ever get Aires in the UK they'll have camp site Prices

No wish to upset the applecart, but for just a pitch with water and elec that is absurd. Google Kelling Heath and look at their costs, this for a full "holidaypark" with every conceivable facility on site. Now look at Froggie Municipal sites and see how hard it is to get to double figures in Eurothingies per night.

Pub Stops ONLY for me in UK!:mad2:

They are going to install showers etc but if it's pub stops for you fair enough .
Just a shame that things don't get a chance to implement before judgement carried out .like I stated he is prepared to talk and listen to us as he would rather it be cheaper and used as dearer and empty !

No it's not cheap ....BUT then IF I was stumping up a heap of cash for facilities for folks to use then it wouldnt be cheap either ....

Is the latest car/phone/tv/whatever cheap when it first comes out ????
Nope didnt think so ...Ever wonder why ???

BECAUSE Someone is trying to make their DEVELOPMENT costs back before the cost eventually drops down to a lower level,
I'm starting to get the idea (Actually its what ive thought for a good while now) that "Some" folks want hot and cold running everything for the sum total of cock all .

Entrepreneur sticks his neck on the line and his hand deep into his pocket and folks are already whining about the cost go figure ehhh

Think it's really good if cruise is included and if they do a deal. it's about £15 for the boat on its own and 90% of people who visit loch Katrine take the boat ride. It's a stunning location and a great base for exploring. So £20 £25 ain't gonna break bank as it's a tourist attraction not just a parking bay with no facilities.

My first thought was that it was high, if it includes a boat trip then I think it's a good deal.

I will definitely give it a go. I don't really know that part of the world much.

I haven't done it yet, Sandy, but intend to use the cycle track/road up the loch, I'm not sure of distance, but it looks a decent cycle, in fact, there is a bike hire outfit there.

We have done the boat trip a couple of times when French relations have been over, worth the trip if you have not been on board.

Terry I'm sure it 20/ 30 miles round the loch.there is a hire shop for cycles ,and we think some lectric and two seater?
Get a couple o bowls of home made soup bloody luv it is.

Arguably the best part of the Trossachs, great little spots to pull in and make lunch. The boat trip is great too.

I know not if it's good value, but I' m pds that calling it an aire is stretching things more than a bit.
That is a campsite.
