Hi, I'm travelling to Anglesey next week and am seeking late night stop north wales area, thinking about the off main road pull ins next to llyn ogwen on A5 , has anyone 'overnighted' there or even the station carpark at Betws-y-coed (designated motor home parking) recently.
Many Thanks.

hi there are several car parks along the A5 near Llyn Ogwen that yuo should be ok in, there is also the car park by Ogwyn Cottage opposite the new cafe and toilets but i dont know if they leave them open overnight, unless you got a Radar key!!

There is plenty of roadside parking in the area by ogwen,a lot of lay-bys have no over night parking signs trying to force people onto the overpriced campsites

Have used both of these locations several times, and never had any hassle. The car park at the station apparently don't allow it, but as long as you buy a ticket in the morning it shouldn't be a problem.

The layby at Llyn Ogwen underneath Tryfan is a good spot to stay. There are no prohibition signs. Be aware though that the locals drive past at all hours of the night (maybe hotel workers) and blast car horns to wake you.
The Ogwen Cottage car park has pay & display meters on since the toilet and cafe building was built last year.

Hi me and my partner stopped in both lay bys about 3 weeks ago and we never had any problems, this was our first trip in our motorhome that we have just purchased and I must say that the stop over next to the lake was the best, the other one by the road was OK but the view was not the same when you got up in the morning. There are no signs up to say no overnight parking but there is one in between that does say no camping, hope this helps with your plans.

You might find the layby's around Tryfan on the A5 a bit crowded, a nice alternative is at Capel Curig take the turning for Bedgellert, after quarter of a mile you will pass plas y Brenin climbing centre (queen victoria sign outside) a further quarter mile at most by the lake on your left is a lovely layby with stone boundary. A real nice alternative and only just off your route
