Fair dos. Its their island, their rules, their residents. There is no automatic 'entitlement' here.
It also says (briefly, right at the end of the article) - that they are going to provide alternative (non-camping) parking for motorhomes elsewhere in the vicinity. Can't say fairer than that. It's a lot more than some UK councils would do after preventing motorhomes from parking up!
