Llanddona Beach

Hi everyone,
We are thinking of going to Llanddona beach this Saturday. Reading previous threads it sounds a great place to stay a night. Having never been before I am not sure of the route in so was hoping for some advice.
Thanks in advance.
:have fun:

I spent two nights there earlier this year - it's a great spot, and if you need water there's a tap on the rear wall of the toilet block ...

There are three roads that lead to the beach.

I used the easternmost road that leads down from directly below the TV transmitter.

It's narrow and steep but passable with care. It's also the least used road I believe.

I asked the beach warden which road to use and this was also the one he recommended. The other roads are busier, twistier and equally narrow.

Enjoy yourself - it's well worth the effort to get there :)

If you mean directions from when you get onto Anglesey, this is the easiest, though not the fastest way. Go over Britannia bridge, take 2nd left signposted Amlwch, Benllech - end of slip road turn right. At roundabout go straight over. Continue for about 5 miles till you go down a hill into the village of Pentraeth (changes to 30 limit). Turn right at the traffic lights immediately after the pub and before the church. After about 400 yards the road splits - keep to the right. Continue for about 5 miles and you will see a small, but clear sign to the left Llandonna. Turn left.

Continue till you have to give way, turn right. Continue till you have to give way, turn left. At Owain Glendwr pub continue straight on (turn left). This road takes you down to Llandonna down a very steep hill.

Accepted practice by the locals is to go down the left fork, then when coming up, follow the seafront along and it takes you full circle.

As I say, not the most direct by any means, but easiest to explain!

Sorry to disagree, Caspar ...

But the route I have outlined was the one recommended by the beach warden.

He said I would find it much more difficult using the roads you've suggested ...

Once the pub is reached per your instructions, I'd advise bearing right and heading for the TV transmitter :)

That one brings you down at the junction.

Well worth the roads whichever way you take! At this time of year I don't think it matters, all are narrow and windy, but you can easily do them with care. Unlikely to meet anything this time of year as well. In Summer etc.... I'd agree with the warden.
