Dont know if this is the correct place (sorry canalsman - please advise of the correct place to ask these types of questions).

I am looking at a trip for May time, following where we used to camp as a family when I was younger. There is a carpark on Lindsfarne just as you get onto the island, there are three signs, but cannot read them on googlemaps.
Has anyone stayed there or any other recommendations for the island?

Motorhomes/Campervans are not welcome on the island.

You can overnight on the mainland side of the Causeway.

My son and I will be visiting there this easter, if its sunny and tide timings are covenant we will be walking to the island, otherwise we will be going across in MH. I can understand why wilding on the isle is discouraged as it would attract many but surely regarded the same as cars for day trip?

It is lovely.
Its somewhere I want to take my daughter and also somewhere I want to photograph personally.

I guess just driver over, do what we have to do and get off hopefully without upsetting too many locals.
I totally understand why they dont want us wilding on there, but surely tourism is the best thing for the island.

It's not a problem going for the day - it's just overnighting that's a big issue ...

There's a POI just immediately before you reach the causeway on the mainland side.

We took m/home across causeway last year

parked in car park further on.

We went across for the day on Friday after parking up on the mainland overnight. Once across there is a large car park just before you reach the village this costs about £4 for the day less for up to 4hrs , there are no marked bays as such so you just pay the same as car owners and we had a great day. All the locals were really friendly.
There is a car park for disabled and buses slightly closer to the castle/priory but the main car park is only a stones throw from everything anyway.
