Got some milk etc at this lidl store in Thurso which is about two mins from the ferry overlooking the harbour and bay.
Spoke with the staff about staying in car park again great response abso no probs about overnighting as long as no mess is left.
Very helpfull staff, the campsite across the way charge thirty pounds odd per unit(not that we would use but just nosey).so if this helps anyone there you have it
When I get home I'm going to write to head office in West Lothian as its where I stay there and ask if a responsible group like ours(registered lot)were OK throughout Scotland and England to overnight, obviously purchases are made .
Maybe admin can reply to me if they want me to pursue this when I get home?

sorry to put dampener on this what happens when other van see us and then they stop and leave a mess then it reflects on us have stopped at poi before now then other have stopped overnight and because they cannot get there rubbish in the bin they have dumped it ok i cleared it up whein i went just took it to next layby and dumped it no i put it in the bin at next bus stop had i seen them do it then might have said something

Writing to head office to ask permission might not be the best idea. Store managers will use their own discression but some bean counter in head office isn't going to see the big picture. Clachaig is the perfect example, phone and ask if you can overnight after a drink and a meal and the answer will be no. Turn up and ask at the bar and you will be told you can stay.

We stayed at a Morrisons in Nottingham, we asked and manager said ok one night. Think it's better left at managers descretion ...

Lidl in Europe provide motorhome parking bays( and overnight parking as far as i am aware ).Noticed more in Portugal than anywhere.

Stopped there for supplies, only at Easter, Gordon. Braw view over the water!

It certainly has terry, were sitting down at the beach just now it looks right across the bay.spoke at the harbour masters office today and I'm allowed to park up opposite their office in the car park foc.lady came out to check the size o van and no probs,on my way in after lidl and just before you turn to take the harbour road on the left there's a hard standing set back from the road with plenty of space to park up and no signs,

I think that's really intended for abnormal loads from the harbour (e.g. wind turbines) turning right.
