This is a reminder for any other old farts out there (Or not so old) who sometimes do things without really paying attention to what they
are doing.
On Tuesday p.m. I though I would start the process of
getting a new licence as I am coming up to seventy, (Yes really seventy).
Inputs to the search engine “Driving licence Renewal” up pops this as the first
choice

Over 70's Licence | Licence Renewal Applicationhttps://www.ukdrivinghelp.co.uk/renew_overAdReplace Or Update Your Licenceat 70. Quick & Easy Application.£69.99 Renew 70 Or Over Driving Licence:Are you 70 years old or over?
Without thinking, my own fault, fills out the form and pays the money.
Feel ok. about this because it says I can cancel the service and get my money
back within fourteen days. Champion all ok then.

After further thought and sleeping on it I decided I did not need their
services so tries to cancel. The part of the terms I did not read states that
by filling in the form you agree to use their services with no chance of
cancelling the agreement.
SO BE WARNED. Yes they will fill out some forms
and send them to you but, YOU DO NOT NEED THEIR SERVICES. If you look further
down the search page (which I did not) you will see that you can fill the forms
out and get the new licence for nothing, in my case anyway.

It baffles me how these sites can remain on line when they are in reality conning people. Whatever you are trying to do involving a Government service only go to something with an address ending in .gov.uk.

Just renewed my EHIC, (maybe check yours as they have an end date and no reminders) in the hope of it being valid after March. The first four site Mr. Google offered were all of the paying nature.......

I've nearly been caught out by one of those sites ,an expensive lesson, the top search results always come back to companies that pay Google for the privilege, never go to the first results....but you probably already know that by now.
