There is no exemption for residents but charges are only to be levied on vehicles which do not comply with the standards - i.e. diesel vehicles with "less clean" engines.

You will find all the information about the LEZ HERE, including details of how to identify whether your vehicle is exempt from charges or not.

good site ,i did a check on my bedford just out of intrest and it passed and it is a 26 year old 2300 petrol. so it looks like it will only affect older type derv motors

Yes, this was always the case. The zone is aimed solely at reducing the level of particulates from diesel engines.

Petrol engined vehicles can emit all the rubbish they like and get away with it - one of the anomalies which make the scheme somewhat unfair.

yes it is a bit stupid ,but then dont know if red ken is still incharge. but if he is then it is about parr for the course for him ,he said it was ileagal to feed the pidgens in trafalger square ha ha. he puts out more particulates talking out of his a.se than a fleet of old transits with the old york derv:eek: engines in:D

its bad enough anybody having to pay that much but im only about 400 yards inside the zone and it works out at 73,000 pounds a year if i use the van every day.

sounds like another government con trick, there was a time when deisel was cheaper than petrol and the powers to be said it was better for us all to use the said smelly stuff. (i have only had one of these things a pugeot and every time i filled up yuk) as soon as a lot of us fell for it me included, wham it ended up dearer than petrol. now they want to charge 200 quid a day to run one what will they come up with next ???.

It's nothing to do with the government - totally the responsibility of the GLA imposing the LEZ under their own powers.
There have been several threads on other forums (not just motorhome ones) showing results of approaches to Westminster/EU which explain this.

wheels within wheels, to me local gov british gov they all p..s in the same pot. and as for there own powers they are able to use there own powers becaus the british gov gives them the power to do so. just my opinion.

I'm not trying to be rude but that seems to me to be equivalent to someone saying all caravanners/motorhomers - especially those who wild camp - are "travellers", with all the negative connotations associated with the term.

as for there own powers they are able to use there own powers becaus the british gov gives them the power to do so.
As with all local government - but the alternative is direct rule for the whole country from Westminster, or even Europe - better?

i do know that at the moment it only concerns goods vehicles over 7.5 tons later in the year or next year it will include under 7.5 ton (goods vehicles)
i dont know if private motors are included but i am sure london council web site will include all the info you need if you cant find any info
be sure that this government will allow ken livingstone to rip us all off as much as poss.

I am not 100% sure, but I think you will find that it includes every diesel engine that does not meet the euro emission criteria, including Motorhomes:eek:

I posted a link to the main LEZ page earlier in this thread but THIS is the page which explains what vehicles are affected, when and the emissions standards which apply. Implementation is basically phased by vehicle weight and eventually will affect all vehicles of 1.205 tonnes unladen weight with diesel engines, whether privately or commercially owned.

Good one Graham, I checked to see if my van would be eligiable to enter London without having to pay emission tax and I'm OK (1700cc petrol engine)

Thanks but no thanks,I despise the place:mad:

Thanks Graham, I was pretty damn sure that it covered all diesel vehicles:D

I used to (having usually only visited in the last 30 years or so for business reasons) but now I'm not so sure.

We're members of the King's Army of the English Civil War Society which holds a parade at Whitehall on the last Sunday of January each year - Jill has been a member for donkeys years but me only for a couple.

This year, instead of just going down for the parade we went from Wednesday 23rd to Monday 28th and stayed at the CC site at Abbey Wood to do touristy stuff as well. It helped that we were able to meet up with my brother, who we don't see often enough, but I have to say we really enjoyed it for a change - probably do summat similar next year.

London Boycott

I think that we should all boycott London and spend our hard earned money elsewhere.
I know that I will:D:D

Lec/lez

Only stage 1 started this week i.e. Diesels over 12t

Then it will be those over 7.5t etc

There are exempt vehicles... but not many! Pre 1973, tractors, and a couple more.

You can check your vehicle VERY easily, however unless your motorhome is over 12t then I think for now ALL diesels will come up as ok - could be wrong, but as they are only rolling it out in stages all below 12t for now will be ok.

Go to:- https://lezlondon.tfl.gov.uk/lez/vehicles/default.aspx and type in your reg and hit the drop down box for UK.

This is the thin edge of the wedge my friends. London this week, Manchester next week:rolleyes:
