Hi there, the batteries are situated under the driver and passenger seats on our Hymer T625 (fiat ducato) do we have to take the seats out or is there an easier way? Any advice would be much aappreciated.

Removing Leisure Battery

Hi Trampslikeus,
Our MH is a Ducato based Kontiki and, like yours, the battery is located under the passenger seat. If the seat is still held down by the original "bolts" then you will need a T40 tool to remove them. This device is very similar to an allenkey but has 6 splines instead of the usual 6 flats. You may find this tool in one of those sets of bits or adaptors for different screw types etc. The seat is a heavy and awkward item to handle but I`m still going to install a second battery under the drivers seat. The sockets in the original bolts were so chewed up by the use of the wrong tool that I had to remove them with a Mole Wrench. Happy fiddling!

If you are really lucky like me, you might need both the T bit and a regular allen key as well. Two styles of bolts, two types of recess.

Thanks for that guys, might be easier to swap the van !!!

After you get the seat off (very heavy and still tethered by the seatbelt) you will still have to remove the clamping arrangement and then the battery leads (negative lead first BTW) so it isn't a 5 minute job.

Remember that space is tight and probably only one exact size of battery will fit - and it really needs to be a "sealed" type compatible with your charger
