Leisure battery life

A couple of questions from a comparitive newbie re batteries

Is it safe to keep my MH hooked up long term or will it damage the battery ?

I'm no expert, but I'm pretty sure you will have a built in safety cut-out to stop any over charging.

Hi felmaster,

There will be no problem leaving the van on long term hookup.

Unless you did the wiring yourself.

I did my own wiring but used an electronic smart charger. This tops up the battery and then switches off the charge and shuts down to a standby monitoring state.

The smart charger is connected to the 240v consumer unit on a seperate feed so I can switch it off if I want, if the battery is fully charged and I'm not in the van for a while.
