Leisure batteries - I think they have died!

Checked my 75ah leisure batteries today. One showed 9.5 volts and the other 10 volts. They have remained disconnected in my van, and I have not charged them, since October. They are now 8 years old. Have they had it or can I revive them? I will do the test on them, ie charge them for 48 hours, leave for 6 hours and then check charge. Am I right in thinking that if it goes below 12v they are dead?

If I do have to replace them, can anyone recommend a good brand. My wife and I tend to use our converted Sprinter van from around April to mid October and we try to be self sufficient, connecting to mains only when we really have to. (I have relatives abroad so usually stop off for a charge!).
Do I need a larger leisure battery as I run an Avtex TV with Sat dish for a few hours per evening, shower (tank with motor ), Thetford Loo and LED lights? (We use gas to warm our washing up water and power the fridge now and again).
I would appreciate any feedback on the above. Many thanks and happy Spring/Summer season!

When I replaced my 2, my main aim was to get the largest capacity batteries I could fit in my locker... in my case 130ah Explorers from Alpha because they had a smaller footprint than other 130s. They may not be fancy or the best around (I really don't know) but they serve me well and, with the member discount we get, I can afford to knock a year or more off their life if it comes to it. As to whether your batteries are dead, I know nothing about leccy but if they were mine, I'd definitely buy new ones. Now just sit back and wait for more expert responses :ROFLMAO:

If they've lasted 8 yrs I'd be delighted and not bother charging them just replace them. I replaced mine with 2 Numax which I've fitted for customers for at least 10 yrs very few ever returned. If 75 ah have done what you asked use the same again if not and you've room step up to 110 ah

Just replaced mine with another from Alpha taking advantage of the member discount.
The last on was 110ah and lasted six years. This time replaced with the 130ah.
Very satisfied.

My van had a 110 amp banner installed when I bought the van from new, I got another same battery after about 1 month and wired up in parallel, we never really use campsites/ hook up, batteries were used extensively off grid after 4 years both have packed up, the banners were B rated which means they were for people who mostly used campsites/ hook up and occasional off grid use, going to get A rated next as allow much more deep cycles.
