Just come back from Silverstone and even though my 2 leisure batteries which are three years old and are charged by 4 no 40 watt solar panels they will not keep the fridge cold by the second day. Any ideas why

Amperage and type of batteries, size/type of fridge and are you taking any readings?

I presume they were fine before Silverstone. If lead/acid have you checked the electrolyte? (Sorry if I'm stating the obvious).

Other considerations;

Has the vehicle been out of use for a long period?

has it been deeply discharged (ie. over 50%) recently?

Possibly your batteries are done.
As others have stated we need a lot more information.
If things were ok before this, then this is the most likely reason. Its possible your batteries have been hammered thus reducing their lifespan. Taking them near 50% will do much harm unless they’re lithium. But other possibilities are feasible.
