I am taking my vw autosleeper trooper to france but only for a day, returning the same day.i will take headlight beam deflectors but does each person inyhe vehicle have to have by law a flourescent jacket ,do I have to have a warning triangle .I will take myoriginal vehicle documents plus copies, licence, mot, insurance, log book.is any thing else rewuired by law in france, thanks for any help ,cheers ,backstamy typing will improve!.

Spare bulbs and a warning triangle are handy. Not sure if they're mandatory - check the AA site for current legislation. Is your Trooper blue? I sold mine a couple of years back and now looking for it...

As far as I remember this is the list for France

Compulsory

Original Registration Document
Motor vehicle insurance
GB Sticker
Warning Triangle - one per car
Reflective Jacket/Waistcoat - one per car
Headlamps Beam Adjusted (stickers)

Recommended

First Aid Kit
Fire Extinguisher
Set of spare bulbs

May well be other things that are a good idea like a mobile phone.

if you have the modern number plates with the little gb on them then no big sticker required.

Quite right VWalan!

It is a terrible affliction I have.
It is called 'belt and braces'.

Best Wishes

we bought beam deflectors but they soon lose the sticky back, we were told to buy black fablon and we did from b&q, now we just cut a piece off when we need it.

Plus, I think, if you have to wear spectacles for driving you have to carry a spare pair.

I've a feeling it's one Hi-Vis jacket/gilet per person.

I got 4 last time we went, I'm sure I'd have only bought one if that was all we had to have. :juggle:

Hi Mastodon If you contact the DVLA ( bad 4 letter word I know ) about your old trooper, They will be able to give you details of present keeper (at a cost as always with them)

Reflective jacket is one for each occupant, accessible from inside the vehicle and to be worn if you break down and leave the vehicle .

sorry got it wrong . One for each occupant was considered to be a commonsense approach but was not incorporated in the law

The high viz must also be kept inside the vehicle, not the boot etc, if you are stopped or break down etc I believe the requirement is to be wearing it when you exit the vehicle.

Just keep your eyes open - there's always one lying at the side of the road...
