Sorry if this is already posted, but I found a bargain on the VW T4 Forum site which although their post is quite old, is still valid. So I thought I would share it here for our club members too.

Maplin has 4 x warm white low profile 12v LEDs for just £9.99 delivered. They are actually supplied with a mains transformer too, but each light can be simply wired without the transformer, to your fused 12v lighting circuit.

The VW T4 forum has comments that lots of people have bought them for campervans and motorhomes, when they were originally advertised for home use.

Here is the link for anyone interested: Circular LED Spotlight Kit 4 Pack | Maplin

or just log onto Maplin's site and search for code a53kx

I just ordered 2 sets and one payment option is PayPal....simples!!

Happy lighting

Some of these lights do not have replaceable led "bulbs". I realise that they are expected to have a long life but if you are going to cut holes in your van there may be no direct replacements available in the event of a failure. If this is important perhaps it might be worth asking Maplins before purchase..

can you tell me if these lights can simply replace the existing lights in my van which are halogen i think cos they get very hot, and would they be easy to replace, i.e. not have to change the wiring as its 12volt anyway.

good price ,but always keep a spare as they can go down.i use these ebay at £10 switched one £12 ,the unswitched one comes with a 24v truck bulb which you change to a led of ebay to your choice,i have these and there good.if doing self build try using a britax auning lamp with 2 bulbs i have these over kitchen and dinning table and if to bright you can remove one bulb.

replies to questions and issues raised

1. They are LEDs and so have a long life and surface mount and are only 7mm deep, so little to cut or drill out If worried about spares then buy more than 1 set like I did. I need 3 lights for my T4 camper van, so with 2 x sets of 4 I get 8 for 20 quid.
2. Yes they will replace 12v halogen or other types of bulbs. To operate them would depend on your light switch arrangement. If like me you are replacing lights with a built in switch, then just add a simple rocker switch to the wiring. I am going to use a couple of small rocker switches available on eBay and described as 12v LED green rocker 10A switch on/off auto electrical car dash SH16. They are currently £1.46 each. I have 2 lights on the cooker/sink side of my camper, and one on the door side. I will wire one switch on each side.
3.. And yes the avatar is my T4 and awning tent arrangement at the Rutland meet.
I hope this helps.
