Having converted all lighting to LED We find with the nights drawing in if we want the interior lights on with the blinds open it does draw attention with the brighter LED lighting. We have found a good solution WILDBUS one of our members sells on his Ebay website a very good in fact excellent LED Dimmer this will easy set to 50% or 10% or in fact any level you require via a handy wireless remote all this for £4.99 see item number 322929681016.

Leds are deff the future....
However after using these on the transit.

I've just ordered 4 more to replace the tired glow worm like caravan type spots in the new swift....

Bright but dimmable AND were able to set to many colours including a dark blue colour to make a very subtle nightlight for nocturnal 'service' trips.

And remote control

Thanks for the feedback, Alf. I do appreciate it.

This dimmer really is a nice item and cleverly it also remembers the last setting you used, so if you were on say the 20% setting and hit the OFF button, if you hit the ON button in the middle of the night, it remembers the 20% setting again and won't blind you with lights at full whack!

Those Controllers are very nice if you have multi-coloured strips. The downside of them (If I am spotting the one in the photo correctly) is they are IR controllers, so need to be line of sight (I think there maybe a wireless version around?)
(I have some multicolour strips on my awning with a similar controller)

Spot on (DYSWIDT) They are IR but the signal does bounce to a degree of you have shiny surfaces (Mrs points it at my head)
And to be honest I've never found it a great issue....
I'm considering running some led strip on the top of the overhead lockers too just for uplighting if it's needed...

Some manufacturers of motorhomes frankly need a good swift kick in the nether regions for their efforts at lighting interiors.

Alf,

please make sure your wearing your pants before you switch your led lights on.

Alf i have a soft white 28w in center of ceiling & two 3w soft white table lamps with frosted globes on a remote, room is 17ft by 11ft.
Bedrooms are 7w small box and 9w master all soft.
Hall 7w soft, porch 3w soft, bathroom 10w soft and kitchen now going to fitt a 5ft flat tube led 40 pure white, saved a fortune over the last few years.
Strange thing i heard on radio a few weeks back that halogen bulbs are now banned form sale to public, but many shops are still selling them,i ask one why so and he replied there is hardly any light bulb police going to come round and arrest me.:lol-053:

It looks as if he has none listed now with the remote just a plain dimmer and no remote but most functions are set from the dimmer unit. Just look up Wildebus and then visit his eBay store or maybe buy direct.

I think the ebay number is wrong...

Ido have quite a few of these left in fact but eBay is really playing up today in terms of revising listings and the last one in the listing just got sold a little while ago. I've just updated the listing now and it has an new number but it is the same product.
(Wireless Dimmer for 12V Lighting | eBay).
Thanks for the heads up on the listing being out (I actually thought I updated it in fact but eBay had other ideas clearly :( )

The wired dimmer Alf mentions is not as flexible (I like the wireless one better myself as well), but where that one is useful I would suggest is as a set dimmer for lights that are wired with a conventional switch and you don't need to change the dim level once you have it set it up (say for plinth or 'runway' lighting)

I have taken out all the halogen lights in my motorhome and replaced them with led strip. I have 14.4 w under the pelmets of each overhead cupboard, ie each side at the front where we sit and at the rear over the fixed bed. I have them on 3 zones so they can all be operated/dimmed independently with the remote. Brilliant. I have now added 7.2w RGB to the anti squeak gap above the high cupboards again zoned and controlled by a remote which you run your finger round to mix colours. 14 million colour variations - brilliant. Not particularly expensive. All the remotes and controllers are Mi Light brand. Far better than these percentage remotes. Bob.

Hi, I'm assuming these are all the same code? So the same remote would operate any of these receivers?

Good question.
Yes, they are all the same (operate on 433.92Mhz)

Bit of extra info which might be useful....
Max current is 6A @12V (so around 72W) - this would be more than enough for all the lights on one ciruit you are likely to have, but if you DID have more - or you had two different cable and light runs, then you could use two of the adapters and control with the single remote (or get two to get two remotes and just use the one dimmer adapter if you want to keep one control by the bed and one in the living area for example).
Range-wise, they are quoted at working at 30M in the open air. I did a test and found the controller stopped working at around 15 paces with the lights inside the house and going outside with no walls between. (this could be important if you are parking up close to someone with the same controller).
The dimmer has a very wide operating range voltage-wise - 5VDC to 24VDC so no worries about overvoltage when charging (this is the dimmer - your lights still have to be compatible at high voltage (just mentioning this as I know in the VW Conversion world lots of people use the IKEA LED lights which work at 12V and DO NOT LIKE 14V+)).
