Has anyone stayed at this aire recently, only this time last year they installed a barrier system,only accessible by card,but would not let us in,even after trying 4 different cards, it was the end of November and about 30 vans in there all french,no foreign vans at all, we went round to Mers where it is free but we really needed electric,as we had just drove up from Spain, and wanted to watch a bit of telly. One kind frenchman tried to get us in with his card but that didnt work probably because it was the card that let him in. Thanks, Chris.
 
We where there early july the barriers were in but allways open ,maybe they hadent finnished installing them ,cant help with the cards we have trouble with english cards all the time .used french cards untill two years ago untill we closed the accounts

Thanks for that, Im wondering now if maybe,they only use the barriers in the winter and go around collecting the money in the summer. It was Nov 29 last year we were there,it was up and running then,so it was installed between May and nov, as we were there in May as well, and they also put a pay machine in at the one at the top of the cliffs by the Cliff railway.Great place. Chris.

We have trouble with English cards too...did you use an English address when you applied for your french cards?

both addresses were on the account with LCL which is the one we used mainly but we had one with credit agricol that just had the french address on ,they werent as good as LCL who would translate important letters to english and had much better service ,i still have a friend who had a place by ours who only has his english address on his account so its doeable from england ,but if you are thinking of opening a french account be very carefull and make sure you nkow all the ins and outs before you do it .thier system is way different from ours in many respects ,and the penalties are much more severe for bouncing checks and being overdrawn accidentally ,its practicaly criminal and if you get an account into trouble its flashed over the banking system .
so its a worry trying to make sure there is plenty of money available for transfers at short notice ,but it does have its addvantages in other ways

We stayed there this year and used our Tesco Credit Card (Mastercard) ok. Be aware that the time runs out in the morning (cant remember for sure but I think it was 0900hrs) irrespective of what time you entered, and a queue can develop with Motorhomes leaving before they have to pay for another day.

Thanks' thats handy to know, especially as they put the price up when they put the barriers in, but cant grumble as its such a nice place, and only a short walk along the river to the town, after our visit last year, when we were unable to gain entry we e'mailed the tourist office and told them that the machine didnt appear to accept British cards and they did say they would look into it, so looks like they were as good as thier word. Chris.

not sure if i have done this right but having a go great photos it as enabled us to see some of the aires we have looked at in the aires book we will be giving them a visit next year.
