Any one charge there laptop from the cigarette lighter in the motor. Are they any good:wave:

Most laptops take more than 12v to charge eg 18v 20v. So you need a step up regulated power supply. Maplins sell them, or in your neck of the woods Mediamarkt. Make sure it has the tip to fit your particular lappie.

There have been a few postings on the general subject. You must be careful to have the correct voltage into your lappy and it varies a lot by make of computer.

I think it is much safer to use the oem charger supplied with the laptop and an inverter. However, I find I need to have the engine running to prevent the inverter squealing (little bugger)!

Hope this helps.

Presumably you mean charging while driving, and do not mean letting the engine charge for maybe a couple of hours while stationary?

because of the problems we are having here with using the motor at weekends with the police i got another motor and it,s got a thing in it to charge most things. so not having a lot of time left before i head of to Portugal i was hoping it was just the case of plugging it in and of we go.

Unless you have the correct supply voltage you don't have a choice really. If you do have an inverter and the mains power brick then just charge as you drive to Portugal.
Has the wildcamping scenario in Espana deteriorated from just this summer?
Over last winter I found the wildcamping situation to be the most favourable for years, along with the best weather for years.

Its only for the summer they said but a lot of roads to the beaches a closed to motorhomes we go fishing most Saturday nights and park in a car park on the beach and have been told we cant park there anymore because the road to the car park is closed to motorhomes and its a fine of 200 euros if you break it bloody joke but only for the summer the locals have had a go at the council

Ken you are not likely to do the laptop much good using one of those 12v multi chargers. If you exceed the current input you will damage your machine.

Best bet is to have a spare battery charged up and ready to go if you can get one.

Well i be taking the old one so if it gos bag i will dump it and go into PC world in Portugal.

Thanks every one for the help:cheers::cheers:
