Land's End to John O'Groats Charity Cycle - overnight ideas needed!

Hi everyone

My partner, his sons and brother are cycling from End to End this summer to raise money for the NSPCC. I and sister-in-law are driving two campervans as the support vehicles.

We are trying to keep costs down as much as possible and I was wondering if anyone had any good ideas of overnight places to stay. I've booked a few campsites but the costs are mounting.

We cant really wildcamp on this trip because I need to be able to rinse through cycling clothing and the men will need access to water to wash in every day.

Does anyone know of any pubs / B & B's etc that would allow us to camp in their garden / carpark and provide us with water in the following places:
Monmouth
Clun
Runcorn
Slaidburn
Keswick
Moffat
Loch Lomond
Glencoe
Inverness
Lairg
John O'Groats

Any ideas gratefully received. As well as the two campers we have one tent for the two teens to sleep in.

Thanks very much

Ruth

Loch Lomond is not a problem for the vans, there are several lochside laybys that will do, but the tent may be a problem unless it is one that can sit on a hard standing. There is a proper campsite at Balmaha, but then you are paying, aren't you?

Have you tried contacting the local tourist offices to see if they will publicise what you are doing - you may find some sponsors prepared to offer you a free spot in a field for one night.

I'd suggest you talk to Magbrin regarding an Inverness stop. See Highland Gathering 2012 thread.
& maybe the Keswick Rugby club for that area.
