Hi

I have a Mens and a Ladies Scott mountain bikes that I have converted to electric for sale

The bikes are top quality mountain bikes with Lock out front suspension on both bikes each bike was around £1000 when new as standard

The electric kits are possibly the best on the market they are the 250 watt Oxydrive rear wheele drive kits with Panasonic 14AH batteries not your cheap batteries that fail quickly these bikes will do 40-50 miles on a single charge and reach speeds of around 25 mph if required they have 6 different power levels with an lcd display so if you don't want to go fast just have it in level 1,2 or 3 this will improve the distance you can go on a single charge.

These have been used to get around when we are in the motorhome down canal tow paths across parks down the sea fronts it really is a great way to get around

I am looking for £700 for each bike

Please send me a PM if interested the bikes are in Burton on Trent in the Midlands and can be tried before purchase if required

Look nice but 250w is the legal max allowed on highway.
And they have to be pedal assisted.

Hi
Sorry that was a typo error they are 250w motors

Still have to be pedal asst unless there made before the new rules came in, bikes seem popular at moment and a lot get nicked.

Both of these bikes are pedal assist the thumb throttle can be removed so they are pedal assist only if required its only a plug in extra

Both bikes dropped to £700 each no offers need the room

bargain for someone

I don't understand what you're saying here trevskoda. The ad says they're 250 Watt. Why point out that that's the legal limit?
And they're clearly pedal cycles so again, why refer to another regulation insisting on pedals?
I'd like to know as we're just beginning to think about getting electric bikes so any and all advice re type, quality and regulations will be of help..
Thanks.

Hi MartinB

The law in thew uk is an electric bike must not be any more powerful than a 250w motor and should not exceed 15 mph now all these motors are capable of doing more than this take the bosch drive units in the uk they do 15mph out the shop but the same unit in the USA will do 20 mph out the shop but you can fit a dongle to these drive units and they will trick the bike into thinking it is only going half as fast as it is so the bike will now do 30 mph

The controller on my bikes above can restrict the bike to 15mph but I have it in the unrestricted mode yes this is not legal so to speak but the chances of getting stopped are virtually nil as I normally ride at about 12-14 mph which is a nice speed but sometimes I do go over the 15 mph (yes I am breaking the law)

But how many of you all stick to the speed limit in your cars every day of the week not many I can tell you

You must also be over the age of 14 years to ride an electric bike on a uk road

What you have or had where electric mopeds, to use them on the road requires tax (or tax exemption form) insurance and helmets. I think you will find very few people approve of those who drive/ride vehicles without insurance.
