Before i start this i just want to tell you things about this man my brother in law he is on the local council of La Azohia and is moterhome mad from the age of 20 he as own motorhoms. Now at a council meeting a few weeks ago the subject of motorhomes was brought up he can,t or won,t tell me who started it.
I myself think it could have come from the near by campsites at this meeting the police and a lawyer were present some one has got a lawyer to speak for them.
A letter was put forward complaining about the number of motorhomes in the town in the summer and last winter. My brother in law said that they brought money to the town and were only parked and doing nothing wrong. First the lawyer put a form on the table from some of the bars and shop in the town some put they lose money when vistas come and cant park there car,s other said not a lot spend money in the bars or shops but bring every thing with them and as for only being just
park up the lawyer put a lot of photos on the table, of chairs and tables out side, someone cooking outside areas were toilets have been emptied in the bushes and one
my brother in law thought very funny is some thing we have done on our place in Portugal thats put a cloths line up from the back of our two vans. So now they are going to look into it and the police will start to stop it. After Christmas at the next meeting they will be looking to see if they can find an area of land to put the motorhomes on. This weekend i stayed at his house for a family birthday and on Sunday we went for a walk along the front the place was full of vans i would say about 50 to 70 parked up and the photos were right many chairs outside washing hanging from the vans we even saw a man going to empty his toilet in one one
of the small portable toilets on the beach. So anyone that is down there or thinking of going just take care were you park up.

Azohia or anywhere else, people should have a care whenever they wild camp or park. The businesses of Azohia should request the policia to apply the law applicable to the circumstances whereby motor homers must fulfil the Parking and not Camping definitions. Where someone chooses to spend their money is their business, if they choose to bring 6 months of food supplies from where ever they come from that is their business. No one should feel obliged to patronise a business.
If someone disposes of toilet waste in an unsuitable manner, penalise him,
but not because he's a motorhomer but because of the offence, same applies to the litterer, of no matter if he's a car driver, pedestrian, or cyclist.

If Wildcamping ( not paying) and you place your chairs out you deserve to be fined!

If you wish to camp go onto a site.

Cheapskate is the word to use, folk who think it’s a right to just park and then camp!

Let’s all remember the rules about parking our van, please.

If you feel so strongly against wildcamping, may I ask what you are doing on a wildcamping forum???, I suggest you move over to our sister site, motorhoming.com or outandaboutlive.com which is allied to MMM magazine which is full of campsites and club talk.

I am one of many who don't like campsites with their unrestricted views of other vans, a toilet block, a hedge or even worse, a dump point.

I prefer to throw open my big side door in the morning onto some wonder of nature like a hillside, mountain side, fast flowing river or vast deserted beach, I have overnighted in some breath taking locations and don't intend to stop.

I have often been asked by non motorhoming friends:-... "with all the onboard facilities, why do they go to campsites?".....Afraid I couldn't answer that one.

Cassette emptying in La Azohia.

It is inexcusable to dump waste in toilets in La Azohia, there is a sewerage point on the left by the bins, about 50mtrs before the Rambla at 37.554447 -1.169301

When I was there earlier this year, some thoughtful soul had attached a strap to the heavy iron cover to facilitate emptying.

Just an aside to this thread if things stay as they are and you can stop over at La Azohia you may want to visit the gun batterie just over the hill its either as very good hike up the rambler or you can drive up the RME 23,,,turn off before Azohia coming from Cartagena and use the car park at the road end ...the co ords are 37.540079 -1.120674
and some history here
! Murcia Today - The Batteries And Gun Emplacements At Castillitos And El Jorel, Cabo Tinoso

long time since Ive been but was interesting...might be a little on the tight side for large vans... have a good day

I’ll second that. It’s a great half a day out - or longer if you take a picnic. The views are stunning and the old buildings are interesting but the big guns at the top are breathtaking to see. There’s no charge to visit and you can pretty much wander all over the emplacements and the buildings below from where they hoist up the shells (there’s a name for that building eh?) whenever folk visit us here over the winter we always take them there. When you look at the size of the guns and then look back down the steep, narrow road you came up it’s mind blowing.

Sorry, typing this from a campsite

The guns were made in Barrow in Furness and the barrels were finished at Vickers Scotswood Works on the Tyne. Steam engins used to haul them up the mountain which had most of its top flattened by hand labour. I have videos and old pictures of the sight being built and the test firing of the guns at Cabo Tinoso.

Those that crave the provision of aires should bear in mind that the mentality
of those in the local authority charged with the resonsibilty of providing the
aire facility aren't necessarily educated in the ways and needs of m/homers.The ones I've encountered in Spain I wouldn't bother staying in
even if offered gratis, for a number of reasons.
It's also worth giving a thought, that if it wasn't for the likes of wild campers (the responsible variety in particular) then where would any inclination for the provision of aires, either pay or free come from?
At the risk of repeating myself, when aires are provided it's only a short step away for the authorities (think police) to insist that you 'must' use them, where then has the freedom and choice of my/homing gone? And you can bet your life there will never be enough aire provision in popular areas so expect to be squeezed in to get more of the m/homing "freedom' experience!
Careful should you get what you wish for!
