Kindle keyboard 3g not working in Morocco

Hi. I have been so pleased with my Kindle keyboard 3g, it has been brilliant I have been able to get and send e-mails, read and post on motor home forums and shop at kindle store, in England, France, Portugal and Spain, but now I am in Morocco I cannot get 3g or GPRS has anyone else had this problem and if so how did they fix it? I am using a Maroc Telecom dongle to do this but I know this will not work in some places in Moroc so hoped my kindle would work instead. bambi 2
 
..you dont say what SIM you have in the kindle. Possibly roaming outside of europe is not included in the deal you got on the sim. Have you tried the Maroc dongle sim in the kindle?

BTW if maroc Telecom dongle doesn't work then it is unlikely the kindle 3g will work. However when we were in Morocco a couple of years ago the availability of a signal was pretty universal (except in some of the more remote inland areas. Note that it mostly was (is??) on 2 / 2.5G away from larger towns so slower.
 
Whilst the 3G Kindle is a great piece of kit for most Internet uses, I had spotted the difficulty in going to North Africa with one.
Who knows when they might get connection sorted out.

no SIM in a kindle , it just checks what 3G is available and locks on to the strongest signal ...amazon have deals with almost all phone operators ; if there is no 3G it will work on 2G , if not that it can use the even older system [ forgotten the name ] ..painfully slow though

didn't work in Andorra either

I love my Kindle and find it useful for emails too. It worked all over France but not in Andorra so I guess Amazon haven't got a deal with any of the mobile phone companies in Morocco. The only other way to get it going is to find a wifi hotspot and log in via the wifi capability.

Thank you folks for your answers to my question, the Moroc telecom dongle I am using is plugged into the laptop not the Kindle, we are quite close to a mast but still even this keeps going off! Guess I will have to wait til I am back in Spain to use the kindle again.

We are on the Atlantica park site til after Christmas as we have a lot of friends here we want to spend Christmas with, the weather has been lovely, Just been sitting out under the awning with a cup of tea it's 25deg now :) after Christmas we will go and join the free campers on the beach (not so free now!) as some moroccans have put up a tent and are charging a guardian fee of 25 dirhams a night.
We had a good trip here again €180 for the ferry to Tangier med and then we kept to the motorways never had a spot of trouble!!

glad you are ok. yes they tried charging on the free part last winter. we had a visit fon the (mayor) khiheed .needless to say we didnt have to pay.. several are on the way . my nextdoor neighbour hits the road tomorrow . snowy and road runner just after xmas . kevin and dannie are also heading your way soon. iveco 4x4. have fun and hav a good time. catch up next year hopefully. inshallah,

Hi Alan, showed Kevin and Danny the kindle when we met up in Gibraltar, Kevin was going to order one, OH! Dear :mad2: they won't even be able to load books with it for the next 3 months. bambi 2
 
hi. kevin is waiting for my neighbour .seems the ferry to spain as been cancelled tomorrow so they will be even later getting to maroc . will try to tx him and tell him .if he hasnt got it might be too late though . cheers alan.
